    For any future readers I was able to fix the problem by connecting my cold wshing machine pipe to my unused hot washing machine pipe and flushing 4-5 times at 20 second bursts. This pushed the airlock out and now the water is hot.

    I have just connected my mains cold water to the now unused hot washing machine connection to try and force the air out. This resulted in cylinder making noises before I could hear the overflow to outside so knocked it off. Is it normal for the overfkow to pour when doing this.

    Leaking towel rail bleed valve

    Hi I have just filled my towel rail for the first time. I opened the bleed valve to allow air out and closed tight with screwdriver once water started coming out. How do I stop water dripping out of the hole to the side of the valve?

    Hi 45yearsagasman, Thanks for the reply. The hot cylinder (open vented) and cold water tank are up in the loft on same level. There is a morotised pump next to the hot cylinder I assumed this was for the central heating?

    Thanks for the information, the control I posted was the first I encountered. I will look for a 2 channel, thanks for the advice on that. Regarding swapping them over: Is it relatively straight forward using the same wiring?
