why 2 thermistors in some boilers?

you are correct AGAIN!!!! even though to prevent water hammer in high pressure areas, it is advisable only to use part 4 float valves in wc cisterns!

why 2 thermistors in some boilers?

yep, you are right!! told u it was easy for u!! ha!! ok, one other question i had and got right, although some other class mates debated  - can a part 4 equilibrium (torbeck) float valve be used in a cold water storage cistern, or only in a toilet cistern?

why 2 thermistors in some boilers?

ha!! i like it! seco-a quick q for ya! which i was tested on!! - and i got it right!! if the hot water cylinder (although my tutor calls it a hot water storage vessel)!! ha - is heated indirectly by a boiler, but the cylinder also has an immersion heater (as back up) - and the boiler...

why 2 thermistors in some boilers?

seco-i might be asking you a few questions or for a bit more help / conformation in the next few months .... if i may and more importantly, you have the patience :) thanks though, seriously, you have been a star! top man.

why 2 thermistors in some boilers?

seco - yeah from my course, i learned that if the water was at 60 (common and safe setting) and the stat set at say 50 (lower) and the terminals between the live and through the stat terminal to (T) bleeped when tested for continutiy on a mutimeter, it proved that the thermostat switch was stuck...

why 2 thermistors in some boilers?

thanks guys for explaining, i get it now .... agile: yeah i survived the immersion heater situation!!! learned a lot from it though, which was really good!!!! and i have loely hot water now!! :) about immersion heaters - from what i have learned, since 2004, all immersion thermostats now...

why 2 thermistors in some boilers?

Hey all - can I please ask a quick question thats been bugging me .... why do some boilers have thermistors on the flow AND return ? why not just on the flow like a lot do? what difference does it make? thermistors have repaced thermostats in many modern al electronic boilers nowadays, but...

    immersion query

got a new fuse from my local store. Luckily..... :) put it in and turned heater on. Can hear the heater making a slight noise (so assume it is now working)!!!! hopefully can have a shower in 1/2 hour! thanks again.

    immersion query

yes that is probably right as my water is well below 40 degrees. so no wonder it bleeped. probably would have bleeped at 20 is it had that range of setting on it! it's very cold now! anyway thanks again, i have learned a lot today. i really am thankful to you. i am off in 10 to get a new...

omg i am soooooooooooooooooo sorry for all this seco. the fuse was dead/blown or whatever! No continuity across it. Sorry for taking up your time and patience! still dont get why the stat beeping on a low setting would have made a difference though.

    immersion query

no light on the connection unit, i'll try continuity across the fuse though which is 13amp and in the unit next to the heater.

    immersion query

if its any help, the lowest setting is 40. it goes from 40 to 80! so the stat is saying the water is at at least 40 degrees c.
  13. C

    immersion query

yes tested it 3 times again, still bleeped on lowest setting (and i agree, it shouldn't as the contacts should be open so no continuity). what sort of power problem do you think it could be?
  14. C

    immersion query

i know what you are saying, with it turned down to the lowest setting, the contacts should open so there should be no continuity....
  15. C

    immersion query

    yes it still bleeped
  16. C

    immersion query

yes will do, but it'll be the same as doing it via the holes as i have been!!
  17. C

    immersion query

seco - yes i see the two screw holes

    immersion query

thanks mrmoo. i agree with what you are saying, but to defend agile in a way, he was thinking of mine and other's safety. i am trying to learn/do want to learn, but am also sure beforehand that i am doing it safely. don't wanna put myself or anyone else in danger.
  19. C

    immersion query

turned stat fully up and fully down and both times it bleeped. out of interest, what diff would it make though
  20. C

    immersion query

hang on, will check that now. what diff. would this make though?
