Can you install a toilet on top of floating LVT

But then surely neither would a bed or a sofa. One of the brands we were looking at allows 115kg to sit on top but not if it's fixed.

Can you install a toilet on top of floating LVT

We are doing an en-suite bathroom and looking to use rigid vinyl planks for the flooring. One of the brands Quick-step states not to screw the toilet directly to the floor but to leave an expansion gap. Our builder sayes what we can do is leave a gap around the screws to allow movement, but I've...

Sealer recommendations for dark grey concrete coping stones

We have dark grey concrete coping stones on a low garden wall, didn't realise when we got them that touching them would leave you with black hands are that it would get on your clothes. We are looking for something to seal them with to stop that as well as help protect them from weathering so...

    Antisulphate recommendations pre plastering

Good point I don't want to be doing this again any time soon! I've found a place that does the renovating plaster for just under £25 a bag and the skim at around £19 so not too bad.

    Antisulphate recommendations pre plastering

I must be missing something, the sovereign one is over sixty quid, I don't think he would be suggesting a cheaper one if there was only a tenner difference, maybe you have a better source :)

    Antisulphate recommendations pre plastering

Hi not sure if this is the best forum for this question. We had damp on a wall which has now been identified as being caused by rising damp. A chemical DPC has been injected and we need to use an antisulphate on the wall to neutralise the salt before it's re-plastered using sovereign renderlite...

    Soak away by a patio

Our garden slopes towards the house and water runoff pools in a space between a patio and low wall. The soil is very heavy clay and I want to dig it out and put in a soak away. How close to the patio and wall foundations can I dig without compromising the structure of both. The area I'm...

Advice needed electric circuit not working

Bit more investigating and info The LED lights have several different cables for them as it's not one continuous run Kitchen 1 by LadyM posted 15 Apr 2017 at 11:38 AM There is one cable under the island, two cables (one for each side) for the floor cabinets either side of the cooker and then...

Advice needed electric circuit not working

Sorry that maybe wasn't very clear it's the 3rd and 4th switch in the first photo, the other 4 switches are for lights which all work perfectly well. In the second photo it's the third switch along and in the third photo it's the first switch ( 4th out of the six). Hope that makes sense

Advice needed electric circuit not working

Hi We've finally got round to installing LED plinth lights in our kitchen, the electrician had wired it all up bar needing to do the final connection in the light switches, leaving us to install the LED strips. There are two areas of the kitchen that he wired up and one section works the other...

Is this cable suitable for a outdoor flood light?

Thanks, I was surprised that the power consumption of the light was the same as the bulb wattage I don't why I thought it would use a bit more power

Is this cable suitable for a outdoor flood light?

Hi Brought a 10W LED outdoor flood light to replace a broken halogen one, the current cable is looking a bit ropey and a small part of the cable will now be open to the elements as the light fits off a bracket where the current one fits direct on the wall and goes straight into the garage so...

    Damp on internal wall

Thanks for all the replies The floor is concrete rather than suspended wood and I'm wondering if the damp could be spreading out from here towards the walls as the underlay and carpet don't allow any moisture to escape. I'll hack off the plaster back to bare brick and open up the chimney to...

    Damp on internal wall

Hi we have a 1950s house and have found damp in the dining room on the internal wall shared with our neighbours. The wall was covered up to about 2 foot with a foil backed wallpaper and then papered over the top. The chimney has been blocked up at some point and there haven't been any vents put...

Patio advice, start again or fixable?

We are having a patio laid which has a path coming off to the right next to the house, the garden is a bit higher than the patio and has a brick wall around it. The wall for the path fits in 900mm of slabs plus mortar so no cutting was required but the patio was started at the back working...

    What should hardcore comprise of?

Thanks for all your replies :) Just managed to find the receipt and it lists 3 bags of MOT Type 1, it has no 'big bits' at all so it looks like the wrong thing has been delivered. This project has been a nightmare and we aren't even doing much of the work. The supplier has been crap, had...

    Advice on which paving

They were laying on a mortar bed with enough to do one slab at a time, after the first day there was a difference in the level between some slabs of up to 5mm. Which is fine for some paving but not porcelain which needs to be more like 1-2mm tops, otherwise it's really noticeable. So they relaid...

    What should hardcore comprise of?

We asked for hardcore and the third bag we had at the same time has some normal stones on top. We had to move the other two bags, and were surprised when taking it all out to shift it that there were no larger stones at all just little gravel, the third bag didn't need moving so not sure what...

    What should hardcore comprise of?

We've got two bulk bags of hardcore for a patio but unlike the other bags we've had these have no larger stones in at all and are just basically sand and really small gravel. Is that normal and would it be ok to go under a patio? Thanks
