Old Sanyo TV to show Freeview?

Just an update. Pretty much bang on. I have the Freeview installation screen on the tv but it continues to roll/flicker up and down the screen. I've tuned it in the best I can on the tv. Would this require me to put a booster in the aerial to sort this out? I have noticed on all my other TV's...

Old Sanyo TV to show Freeview?

Firstly is it possible? Its an old TV with push buttons for the channels 1-8. I have a freeview box and bought an RF modulator. I have tried to source images of how to wire these in the correct order. I have seen some diagrams whereby a VCR is required. Is there a way around making this work...

    Chimney Leaking!

Mike, I'm no roofing expert but i had the same problem in my mid terrace (1895). Heavy rain would create browning on ceiling above chimney breast and would also run behind the plaster. Haunching was completely jiggered, you could slot £1 coins down the gap easily and can only say...

    Summer Project!

Thanks for the replies. I have strengthened the roof previously by fitting 3"x2" joists across from wall plate to wall plate and braced further up the pitch for good measures as i initially thought the cracks in the single skin walls were due to the roof spreading. I will get some off cuts...

    Summer Project!

I have a little summer project on the cards. I have an a couple of "cramped" rooms forming my outbuildings that i want to give a face lift to and make more usable. A while back with all neighbors agreeing we lobbed a tree down which stood behind. Now i can only think tree roots shrinkage...

    Flu advice please!

Hi there, I have a solid fuel range in the kitchen that i have been using regularly for the past 18 months with no problems. I burn wood and coal and keep it well serviced (swept twice a year). Now the property next door shares my chimney (i'm a middle terrace) although looking at photos on...

New door frame in old house?

Thanks tony, as you say no real problem i guess just like to be prepared really. I have uploaded some images, it would appear the same amount of frame is exposed externally as internally, so if it is set back am i gonna have to fight it out and knock the finished plaster and render off?

New door frame in old house?

My House is circa 1890, English bond solid wall construction and i'm looking to install a new frame and door (wood not PVC). Can i ask, what should i expect to find? Does the existing frame sit back and therefore the headers on the door reveal are only half brick? Or does the frame sit within...

20mm T&G pine board on battens!

Hi all, Laying a floor to my front room in the next weekend. Boards have been acclimating for the past 2 weeks, now stained and oiled ready to be laid. To gain a level threshold with the kitchen the floor needs to be carried through at 60mm. Have 20mm T&G 5inch wide boards leaves 40mm. I've...

    Laying Quarry tiles in kitchen

Thanks TPT. The floor has been down 10 months now and at a depth of 100mm with no UFH present. Your comment about the anhydrite screed has got me thinking. It was put through a pump flow system. There was surplus material that was dumped in the front garden for me to dispose of and it...

    Laying Quarry tiles in kitchen

I'm after some advice and direction from those in the know, as to the best way of prepping a agilia screeded floor for laying 2" quarry tiles. I actually spoke to agilia they recommend sanding the floor to remove waxy curing agent (which i have done), score the floor (sounds extreme) and...

    DIY Sash Window Renovation?

I went from 3mm glass to 6mm glass! Weighed the smaller of the sash window and both top and bottom came out @ 8kg each, not weighed the big ones yet. So on that basis 8kg / 2 = 4kg weights. Hear what you say about the bottom sash so will adjust that to say 3-3.5? ok? Original weights are...
