    Attic hatch type/brand advice

I want to buy the hatch not have someone buy it for me. That's DIY?

    Attic hatch type/brand advice

I am aware that a ready made loft hatch will need to be fitted properly and I was going to employ someone to do that. Like I said, I will be insulating with at least 270mm in the attic and using the hatch reguarly. I don't want to have to push the board up and shove it to the side every time. I...

    Attic hatch type/brand advice

The building is old and there is a lot of air flow in the attics, I want the hatches air tight so that dust from the roof does not come down during windy weather. I want the hatches to be insulated properly as I am soon to start insulating the attics with 270+mm of sheep's wool (or similar...

    Attic hatch type/brand advice

I have a split level flat with two attics. I have no need of a built in ladder as I have a telescopic I need to keep around downstairs anyway but I will be using the main loft for storage (if that is relevant). The current hatches are just wooden frames with thin wooden boards. I want ones that...

Is loose fill insulation a good idea and other issues for old attic

Cross lay over the top I believe. 100mm depth between the joists and 170 or more over the top perpendicular.

Is loose fill insulation a good idea and other issues for old attic

I should make it clear that the reason I am considering loose fill insulation is because of the gap between the joists varies from 29-33cm in both of the attics. In the main attic the joists overlap in the middle making cutting rolls of insulation to the right width rather problematic. At least...

Is loose fill insulation a good idea and other issues for old attic

Actually, can anyone explain why I would use slab insulation rather than the stuff that comes in rolls?

Is loose fill insulation a good idea and other issues for old attic

None of the information I got 8 years ago when buying the place suggested there were any issues around asbestos. The sparkies I've had in to quote and the clearence companies I had in to quote and then clear the attics have not mentioned asbestos. So you were not taking about Kingspan when you...

Is loose fill insulation a good idea and other issues for old attic

Let us assume that for whatever reasons the water tank is there to stay, at least until next April when I can afford to pay for it to be done, but I want some insulation up there for the winter. When it comes to using PVA do you mean making a solution with water and giving it a few coats? The...

Is loose fill insulation a good idea and other issues for old attic

I'm a free holder, owner occupier, of a top floor flat, split level (two attics), in an old building. There is work needs doing on a chimney stack that is causing water damage (main attic which is ~40sq m) and there is a problem with water ingress from the flashing above the lower attic (above...

Switched fused spur with cable outlet and USB port?

Thanks again, although I wouldn't blame google for that... With basically everything one uses a search engine for one has to be wary of the information provided. It was the same years ago, one would find forum discussions where the information was out of date and/or incorrect.

Switched fused spur with cable outlet and USB port?

Thanks! I had noticed that zone 3 was not on some of the images I've seen but obviously I wasn't sure why

Switched fused spur with cable outlet and USB port?

Is zone 3 considered inside the zone or is it just the lower numbers?

Switched fused spur with cable outlet and USB port?

I believe I could extend the wires from the current back box using Wago's and some single core. There may well be a better way of course

Switched fused spur with cable outlet and USB port?

You mean run a cable down from the attic in trunking?

Switched fused spur with cable outlet and USB port?

Ah, so that fits over the current back box and then I can use the modular kit as detailed by plugwash. Cool! Eventually I'll get the whole room ripped out and everything replaced but there are more important jobs. So it sticking out from the wall is not an issue. Thanks!

Switched fused spur with cable outlet and USB port?

No it does not have to be done in the bathroom but I often sit on the floor down there to paint stuff and it would be useful to have a USB outlet. Also I have a USB razor and it would be nice if I could leave it down there. It is the double back box that is the problem. Cutting the boxing is...

Switched fused spur with cable outlet and USB port?

Thanks. Sadly it is going to be beyond skills/available tools to do that.

Switched fused spur with cable outlet and USB port?

Final ask: has anyone ever seen a switched fused spur with a flex outlet and a USB socket. I am sure I have seen one on a website but it was out of stock and now I can't find the website. It might not have had a cable outlet. But it was a switched fused spur with a USB socket.
