Low hot water pressure in shower

I have no idea what the make and model is- there is nothing written on it. The only other thing to mention is that it has two shower heads so also has a diverter valve.

Low hot water pressure in shower

I have a combi boiler and one bathroom in the house. The water pressure in the shower has always been very good, but over the past 6-10 months the hot water pressure in the shower has been gradually dropping. Now when we take a shower the pressure is noticeably very low, and it runs cold in the...

    Wall with no foundations?

Hi, I have a 1900s mid terrace with a 5-6 foot wall around the yard. The walls are party walls with our neighbours and extend from the house walls We wanted to lay some flags in the yard so dug up the existing concrete and discovered that one wall has a stretch approx 2m long where it doesn't...

Any ideas on cause of damp...

The photos are of the same side as the chimneys and I think the party wall has been constructed between the chimneys that are at the far left and far right- or at least I think they are the chimneys! It's as far into the loft as I could get so that's why the images are poor.

Any ideas on cause of damp...

Hi sorry for delay in replying. Here are photos of the loft... Not very good images though. What's causing the salts to come through the plaster in the chimney in the living room? Is it likely to come back once we knock the affected plaster off an repair? Thanks

Any ideas on cause of damp...

Thanks catlad and ree. So is it likely to be just salts from the chimney attracting condensation? That was my first suspicion but I didn't know if it would be able to travel around the alcove and to the other side of the internal wall. Ree you said check the loft for water stains. If we...

Any ideas on cause of damp...

Hi, I have a mid terrace built in 1900. I have damp patches and I'd like help in trying to work out if I have condensation and water ingress from the chimney (or maybe rising damp??) or just condensation. Here's a diagram of the affected areas with some close ups below The chimney breast...

    Clothes airer pulley system

Thanks for your replies everyone. I've got it working at last! The pulleys are ceiling mounted (the pics turned round when I uploaded them). Google hasn't been of any help- not found any airers with the same pulley configuration, but an old lady I know has managed to talk me through it...

    Clothes airer pulley system

Thanks jj I think I'm getting there now. It looks much better than it did, although the set up still looks wrong. I think it might be because I have the pulleys in the wrong position. There are three of them and are all different. This is the double which I'm assuming sits on its own...

    Clothes airer pulley system

Thanks for your reply. My airer doesn't have holes for the rope to go through... It has two triangles of rope at either end that the pulley rope attaches to (no idea how this is done). The two single pulleys go in a straight line, but the third double pulley sits directly behind one of...

    Clothes airer pulley system

I have an old fashioned clothes airer that hangs from the ceiling in front of the chimney. It has 3 pulleys, 1 with 2 wheels, 2 with 1 wheel. Builders took it down to do some work, and I assumed they'd know how to put it back. None of us can fathom it out and it's driving me insane! I have...

Dealing with a damp stone floor/walls

Also, just wondering if anyone would mind explaining why having a DPM underneath the floor is better than a surface one? I'll be getting people in to do the remedial work for me so I'd like to be a bit more informed about both types so no one pulls my leg. Thanks in advance!

Dealing with a damp stone floor/walls

Thanks all for the very helpful advice. The gully hopper is no longer in use... It used to be connected to the old bathroom drains but when the bathroom was refitted they drained everything into the soil stack and removed the old pipes. I've been chiseling away some of the concrete on the...

Dealing with a damp stone floor/walls

We pulled up the lino and all the other stuff stuck to the floor this morning. It looks like this so far The surface of the flag stones look to have been damaged by the moisture so they are very powdery and flaky now. Here's a pick of the rest of the kitchen floor that looks like...

Dealing with a damp stone floor/walls

Yes the problem is located in the kitchen only, and much worse on the exterior wall than on the interior ones. The walls are approx 9inches thick (and i think this goes for all the walls in the house, and the kitchen is the only room with a solid floor). We are renovating the house and...

Dealing with a damp stone floor/walls

I have recently bought a 1900's mid terrace and have been living in it for 5-6 months now. When we bought the house it had been empty for over 18 months and we knew it had evidence of damp that we felt was largely due to condensation. Most of the damp has now retreated and all is good...
