Removing paint from the kitchen side (& cleaning that si

Hi All We have moved into a new place and cant really afford a new kitchen. The kitchen we have is fine apart from whichever cowboy decided to put it in, when they decorated - they left loads of paint stains on the kitchen sides and the sink looks like it was never cleaned properly after...

Changing a boiler - surely cant be this awkward

I've been quoted £2000 to take off my old boiler, and connect a new combi boiler. thats including boiler - but still, that seems extreme. Any thoughts on this? it literally is taking off one boiler and putting on another - siting it at the same location.

New central heating system - some advice please

Hahaha! i was reccomended them to be fair. The deal was the icing on the cake really. I will continue to look for plumbers in the mean time - but being a sunday - not many are answering and the one guy i spoke to said "We'd ahve to do the whole lot mate"...... he can go do one.

New central heating system - some advice please

Hehehe. Take a chill pill! The reason i ask is that i've booked british gas to come in on the 5th July (speedy) - and obviously the person on the phone doesn't have a clue. British gas are doing that deal where they give you £300 for your old boiler and a years free cover - so i need to find...

New central heating system - some advice please

Thanks Chris. I thought that would be the case (and i did mean combi! thanks!). So - if myself and my uncle do all the piping and provide a stopping point for the pipes underneath where the boiler is going to hang - that should hopefully cut the cost from £3k to around £1.5k (including...

New central heating system - some advice please

Hi, i have an old flat that needs its whole central heating system changed (for various reasons - including a cracked cylinder!). It is currently a standard gas boiler with a hot water cylinder. i want to change this to a condensing boiler to eliminate the cylinder altogether (to get greater...

    Do i have Damp?

I could be wrong, but i think i have damp. I have moved into my first owned home ad i have been redeveloping it for the past 5-6 weeks. It's a 2 bed ground floor & basement apartment. It's all been painted and over the past few days i've noticed the paint at the bottom of the stairs on an...

I really need some hot water pressure!!

Thankyou Agile. i must admit, no one else has supported the thermal store option. In my head it seems to make alot of sense, but i have no experience in it. My uncle builds houses and does alot of standard plumbing - he's not a plumber by trade, but he knows his stuff and he thinks in...

Can someone give me the 'nod'?

Can somebody just read my last post on: http://www.diynot.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=328111#328111 and let me know whether they think i am making the right decision? I need to buy it this week you see. I'm guessing my post will now get lost considering it's past the 20 post stage! Thanks

I'm not going to lie, i am a novice - pure and simple. I've never done any plumbing and i dont know all the terminology. I do however pick things up quickly and am starting to get a grasp of these things, so thankyou for your help so far. This is the product i have set my mind to. After...

I really need some hot water pressure!!

doing a bit of research....... Am i right in thinking that i need a certified unvented cylinder installer to simply VERIFY my installation?? In other words - in can get an uncertified plumber to install it and then get a certified plumber to come in and check it over and give it the tick...

I really need some hot water pressure!!

I think you're right. Tank fed hold and cold will mean getting a larger tank with a larger head (water!) we only have another half metre clearance really so we cant make it that much bigger. this would mean i dont need a pump.

I really need some hot water pressure!!

I come from Mars. I was originally a bacteria on the red planet but due to a freak of nature, Superman, while fighting off Kryptonite, managed to transform me into a human being and then drop me into a home with a rubbish shower. History aside, I wasn't aware of the regulations with an...
