    3 Port valve

Im now not convinced the wiring is correct, this is how I have wired it up, I copied from the old Danfos valve

    3 Port valve

It's a different 3 port valve manufacturer, old Danfos, new Salus, I remembered this morning that late last year when I manually put the heating on at the controller then I had to switch the hot water on as well, otherwise the boiler wouldn't fire up, I moved the auto-manual switch on the 3 port...

    3 Port valve

Hi Now the warm weather has arrived we switched the heating off so only hot water would be called but unfortunately the radiators still got hot. I searched various forums and the answer appeared to be a faulty 3 port valve so this morning I drained the system, changed the whole valve, sat back...

    1.7D Corsa van Starting

Hi Yes it was the alternator, I replaced it yesterday. I called the local scrap dealers to see if I could get a second hand one, but as it has a brake vacuum pump attached I couldn't get one. I had to get one on service exchange and it cost me £139....ouch. Thanks again for all your help.

    1.7D Corsa van Starting

I have just removed the battery and although I only bought it on Tuesday When I connected it up to the charger it was absolutely dead. It started first time every time I started it from Tuesday, yesterday I started it, again no problem, drove 30 miles, then after it had been stopped for...

    1.7D Corsa van Starting

Yes it is a brand new battery. It started first time all the time after I got the starter motor, but now, I have just tried to start it again and it is if the battery has drained, I tried to start it and the alarm came on again. I travel about 60 miles a day to and from work and it has been ok...

    1.7D Corsa van Starting

I had a problem starting my van a few weeks ago. After asking on this forum I finally sorted it by changing the starter motor. Unfortunately the problem has come back. I changed the oil, I changed the starter motor for a second hand one, I fitted a new battery but I have just tried to...

    Motorised Valve

The blue wire is the Neutral for the valve motor and should go to the neutral terminal. You can usually identify this quite easily as all the wires to the terminal will be blue. Again spot on, all the blue neutral wires were going into connection 2 except the one from the valve, I thought...

    Motorised Valve

The system all works fine now. I changed the valve around last night and checked the wiring, the blue wire was going into connector 1 rather then 2 (not sure if this made any difference) so I changed this as per the diagram D Hailsham gave me and moved the valve. Thanks very much for all...

    Motorised Valve

Thanks for your help on this. I will change the valve around tonight and check the wiring so I know how it should work, and it is at the recommended standard, if it doesn't work after that I will contact Horstmann on the number you give. I will let you know how it all goes, this may help...

    Motorised Valve

The Honeywell valve removed is model number V4073A1039-7, the new valve fitted is a Horstmann F322m I will check the wiring because I (probably wrongly again) assumed that as the wires are the same colours that they would go in the same place!!!!!

    Motorised Valve

Thanks for the diagram I will check it out. I know everything tells me it is the wrong way, and the instructions sent prove this but would the old valve have worked for over 7 years if it was the wrong way round???

    Motorised Valve

Thats worrying. I have lived in the house for 7 years and never had the motorised valve replaced, but I have never had a problem with the water/heating before. The hot water side of the motorised valve connects into a 22mm pipe going into the hot water tank and the heating side connects to a...

    Motorised Valve

Thanks very much for the quick replies. The instructions that came with the valve were not clear and not like the one you attached for me D Hailsham, thanks, that makes it very clear. I obviously will not make the mistake again of thinking it is an industry standard that 'A' always goes the...

    Motorised Valve

My radiators were getting hot when I selected hot water only. I was advised it was the motorised valve that was blocked, I changed this yesterday. The motorised valve I took off was a Honeywell and I replaced it with a Horstmann (this being the only one I could get quickly). Unfortunately...

radiators come on when heating off

I changed the motorised valve today and checked out the system. The valve has 2 lights on top, 1 for the hot water and 1 for the heating. I turned the hot water on but left the heating off and the water light is on. Unfortunately all but 2 of my radiators are still hot, even though each...

radiators come on when heating off

I was going to change the valve this week, unfortunately I now have no hot water it is only tepid, can this be caused by the valve as well. I have a Honeywell 3 port valve, can this be changed for any manufacturers valve, I have seen one in screwfix about £20 cheaper, can this be fitted...

    Boarding a ceiling

Thanks for that. I think I will take it down. Good advice on marking the walls. Is it worth putting up insulation before the plasterboard?????
