    Thanks Guys, to answer one question, I have a degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, but yes I agree I seem to be out of my depth with the regs. I graduated in '84 so Im well out of date, Its the reason I came to this site. Ill follow the advice and get the electrician in! Thanks again.

    thanks guys for the quick response! Yea I meant metal capping - this is already installed in some places but was just wondering about earthing of it! Thanks for the advice. Will try to get a photo today of the main setup and post it later or tomorrow, to show the complete lack of any building...

    Hi, this is my first post here. I am attempting a total rewire on my property (1950 build) because the existing stuff is very dangereous. eg instead of junction boxes wires are twisted together (and left bare!). Also the house does not have any earth(!!) and one doesnt come from the mains...
