LED strip light suddenly gone dim

Thank you, I'll get a new one then. The strips are 19w so a 30w should cover it. I know that initially there were 2 strips (i.e. 38w) running off one transformer for a couple of weeks before the mistake was spotted so that perhaps explains the early failure.

LED strip light suddenly gone dim

I've got 2 LED strip lights in my kitchen, each with its own transformer. About 1 year after installation, one has suddenly gone dim. I swapped the transformers over and the other one went dim so the problem is with the transformer. I assume I will just have to buy another transformer but wanted...

New patio doors letting water in, installer says it's fine

Just to confirm in case anyone has a similar problem in future - the plastic trim is indeed the source of the leak. The rain finds its way behind the plastic and through the hole into the frame, then drops out into the track inside the house. Sealing the hole or the entire plastic trim fixes the...

New patio doors letting water in, installer says it's fine

Good idea thanks. I've taped it over on one door and left the others as is so we'll see what tomorrow's wet and windy weather brings.

New patio doors letting water in, installer says it's fine

After a few watering can tests I found that the rubber seals, cills and where the door edges meet are all watertight. The problem is with the small plastic trim that hides a group of screws: water goes in the top of it and then travels through the hole in the middle of the frame behind it -...

New patio doors letting water in, installer says it's fine

Thanks that's helpful to know. Can you see the drain holes or are they hidden behind the trim? Maybe mine are blocked or missing altogether.

New patio doors letting water in, installer says it's fine

Thank you for your replies. They are sliding doors - 3 of them on the same wall and all have the same issue. It has not rained for 24 hours here and there is still some water in the track, albeit less than yesterday. It is the installer who is saying this is to be expected, although I think they...

New patio doors letting water in, installer says it's fine

When it rains there is water pooling on the inside of my patio doors. It's always below a point where a door meets another door or where a door meets a fixed panel, as if it's coming in through the vertical joint between them. It does seem to disperse a few hours after rain has stopped but I...

Titan SDS drill stops working intermittently

Thanks I will give it a wiggle and see what happens.

Titan SDS drill stops working intermittently

I've had a Titan TTB278SDS for about 2 years, has always worked fine but just recently it conked out while I was using it. Strangely, it works if the chuck is pointing upwards but if it is pointing downwards the drill won't start at all and is completely dead (whether rotating or hammering)...

Trapping condensation on outside of soil pipe

Thanks, is 'string' a technical term for something or do you literally mean a pice of string? You're thinking it would soak in and then you could direct a dangly bit to somewhere convenient?

Trapping condensation on outside of soil pipe

I have a soil vent pipe which is boxed in to the corner of my bathroom. On all but the warmest days condensation runs down the outside of the pipe and drips into the garage below (there is an offset in the pipe so condensation falls off at the bend). I have tried solutions including ventilating...

Any way of adjusting this door?

Well at least I have alleviated the hinge rubbing issue using Harry's suggestion - it shifted only a tiny amount but seems enough. I've worked around the problem with the hooks not releasing from their keeps by removing the keeps for now. I'm thinking of buying a new Winkhaus Trulock for the...

Any way of adjusting this door?

I agree it does look that way but I tried it and that whole section is deeper than the rest of the metal plate thing. I took another picture to show this. I guess I could grind its edges down and then it would work as you suggest. Maybe they used the wrong part when the door was installed.
