    quick fix to flat roof

well that's good to know, I can get the cromapol this afternoon and get it painted on this evening. Thanks all for your help. When I get the roof redone we're hoping to use it as a sun terrace, should I use a rubber membrane system?

    quick fix to flat roof

is there any real product difference between acrypol and cromapol? I can source cromapol locally today but the acrypol will have to be via tinternet and will take time to get here. But I don't want to have an inferior solution so if the acrypol is significantly better then I'm prepared to wait.

    quick fix to flat roof

okay so if I buy a few tins of the acrypol and paint that over the affected area (about 12 sq mtr) that should do the trick should it? Also if that's the solution (and it's one I like) could I then put some pea shingle into the few remaining pooling areas to disperse the water more quickly?

    quick fix to flat roof

okay the proper answer to this question is "get it re-roofed" and honest guv that's what we have planned for spring/summer next year. But my problem is now, today. We have a flat roof approx 6m * 6m which had (note had) a fall to a lead gutter. The roof is concrete with some type of felt over...

    texecom premier installation question

Hi, I'm not really stressed about the pets. I was thinking that if the window got busted then as soon as they went through a door it would set the alarm off. Currently if they busted a downstairs window they might set off an alarm, if they busted an upstairs window they would have to...

    texecom premier installation question

Hi, I'm thinking of having one of these installed. I'm currently doing a complete refurb and doors / plasterwork / fllors are being replaced. My current alarm system is going to come out and I'm wondering if it's a good idea to put magnetic sensors on all the doors (cut into doors) and...

Insulating a Dunsley Type R Neutralyser

I'm sorry BigBurner, but if you're suggesting putting a pump (however slow moving) directly onto an Aga then you're either showing your ignorance or have a very cavalier attitude to safety. Not only that but I think you'll find building regs might have something to say about pumping an...

Insulating a Dunsley Type R Neutralyser

I'm not sure I understand you, the aga sits in the kitchen and the thermal store sits in the utility room on the same floor as the aga, at no point can you get a gravity flow from one to the other (unless you angle a pipe across the kitchen). So I'd be very interested if you could explain...

Insulating a Dunsley Type R Neutralyser

Not when it's on the same floor as the aga. The aga has to be gravity up to the dunsley, the dunsley can then be pumped to the thermal store. The Dunsley is also fed by other sources (oil boiler/ log burner) The mineral wool/foil sounds ideal.

Insulating a Dunsley Type R Neutralyser

Hi, I've just fiited a Dunsley to combine tha Aga and Bolier into a thermal store. All working, so I need to insulate the Dunsley (all the other stuff is done) the Dunsley is fitted to a wall (3ft of the ground) and a partion is going to be built in front of it (so the Dunsley and pipes will...

water cylinder question is this feasible

Hi Softus, Well I think that covers it, (the UFH is sized for the whole of the upstairs), I'll talk to AA about what my options are for adding in solar, and then it's just a question of finding a plumber happy to plumb it all in. If anybody has any other information that they think I...

water cylinder question is this feasible

Hi Softus, Advanced Appliances suggested (At the moment) that there is one coil for the boiler, one coil for the hot water and the aga is heating directly into the store, I haven't confused them with adding in a solar coil yet. The UFH requirement has been sized at 5.3 KW and would have a...

water cylinder question is this feasible

I have spoken to advanced appliances and a very helpful man there suggested a 210 litre thermal store with a heat exchanger for the UFH. He has suggested direct connection for the Aga and a coil for the boiler. I have read a number of the discussions about the various merits of these over...

water cylinder question is this feasible

Hi Tony, I want UFH for a number of reasons, a) you need less real heat to acheive a comfortable environment (eg 17deg at floor level rather than 20 deg from rads) b) I have to disrupt the house either to replace a single pipe system with a dual pipe system and new rads or with UFH given...

water cylinder question is this feasible

Hi, Thanks all for the responses. As to why I'm doing it, the oil fired boiler runs just the large bore single pipe system. The end of this system's useful life has come and gone, to replace the boiler I have also to replace the central heating, so rather than just get another costly to...

water cylinder question is this feasible

Hi, I have an oil fired aga which provides all the hot water in our house, we also have an old oil fired boiler which provides only the central heating via a large bore single pipe system. All very old stuff and in need of replacement. I want to start with the central heating so I'm...
