I would be looking at around £500 for a powerflush, but that is based on 8 radiators more would equal more £££ less would equal not much less £££

Brown water: time for a power flush?

If the water in the system is just slighty coloured and no other probs are experianced I.E. rads not heating you would get away with draining the system and adding fast cleanse, refill run for a day then drain and add inhibitor. Job done

overheat trips out boiler & pilot goes out

Must only scale up in your area mate never had that prob but I am in a soft water area. As for Worchesters lasting more than 15 years what about the 240?? cracking boiler.....................IMO Sounds as though the guys mind is made up though, good luck. Would you buy a car if all the rest...

    vailant 637 ecotec system boiler

Things just don't sound right with the installation, you can eaily bridge out the external controls as you have said you did previously, if you still have a prob I would be looking at the system setup. A system that size can be difficult to set up correctly. I would consider the previous advice...

Not a rebadged appliance just cheap crap! sorry to be so blunt but these boilers are naff. Could be the gas valve like prev mentioned or perhaps a the fan sticking which would cause it to hum. Very hard to tell without seeing the boiler. Sorry

overheat trips out boiler & pilot goes out

MMMMM, thats a bold statement!! I agree the classic is a decent boiler but would struggle to say it is more reliable than Worchesters of the similar era i.e. Juniors. But as you say each to there own, but I personally would NEVER install an IDEAL in my own home. The company has gone to the...

overheat trips out boiler & pilot goes out

But why fit a band B when you could install a band A?, which we all know is where the regs will be in a couple of years. IMO I would go for a Worchester condensing appliance either system or combi whatever your req is, will cost more to install but will save in the long run. But that is only...

    worcester24 cdi

If it was a problem with the inlet pressure from the meter no it wouldn't cost a penny as Transco would replace the govenor free of charge, if its the thermistor its not an expensive part a few quid but depends on who you get to fit it>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Central Heating programmer fuse keeps blowing

Could be mate, check for any signs of water around the valve. Water and electricity don't mix..............

overheat trips out boiler & pilot goes out

Yes I do know the classic is a reliable and basic appliance, but it also does not confirm to the current efficiency regs i.e. condensing boilers with the odd exception. Why fit a less efficient appliance if not req???? P.S. worked on hundreds of classics and yes they are reliable, but so are...

Central Heating programmer fuse keeps blowing

Obviously a short circuit on the heating system mate, depends what type of system you have but the usual suspects are the pump or zone valve. Could also be caused by a slight leak onto either of the above so check that out. Ideall you need to get a CORGI eng in bud.

    Microbore Radiators

Yep blockage will be at the manifold, sometimes not easy to find. Once you locate the manifold try running a magnet around it as it will stick where the blockage is, not an exact science but gives you an idea.

    worcester24 cdi

could be a problem with either the inlet gas pressure or the thermistor, BUT either of these should only be investigated by a CORGI reg eng.

overheat trips out boiler & pilot goes out

If you are looking to replace it bud wouldn't think of touching an Ideal, yes they are a British company but I'm afraid that in current boiler terms they are way behind the likes of Worchester and Valliant. Personally I only fit either of these two brands, they are reliable and if you do have...

    Wet room probs!!!

Also is there a sealant available to cover over the wall tiles? From what I have read these should also have been tanked behind and weren't. Really don't want to have to take them down as they are straight onto plaster board and it would make a hell of a mess. :?
