    Room thermostat with TRVs ?

What is the reason behind the current trend of fitting room thermostats in place of or , in conjunction with TRVs ? Years ago the trend moved away from room therms to TRVs , the current trend is for room therms . Why the reversal ?

    Replacement Combi bolier

Thanks for the information guys, it is helpful. Basically my current boiler gives 27KW output and 9.6 litres / min HW. A 33KW bolier will give me 13.5 litres / min and a 40KW 16 litres per min. The 33 KW is MORE than capable for CH but the 16 litres / min HW from the 40KW would be nice...

    Replacement Combi bolier

Hi It's become time to change my combi boiler , currently an Ariston MFFI27. Going to put a Baxi in , looking at a mini, mum of the 33KW model but I'd like to go for the 40KW because of the better HW flow. Is there any reason not to go for the higher output model although I don't need the...

Intermittent hot water from combi boiler

Been thinking about the sludge build up and can't understand why the boiler cuts out when DHW is requested . If I turn hot tap on there must be a valve or summat that allows the water to be heated, flow through the boiler must be sensed by a switch which operates a valve or similar. If the...

Intermittent hot water from combi boiler

Hi Just installed a thermostatic shower and noticed it runs hot for maybe 30 secs then goes cool for maybe 10 secs , then hot for 30 secs and continues on this cycle. I hadn't noticed this before and thought the new shower was at fault but when running the kitchen hot tap the same cycle...

    15mm flexible pipe for shower

I'm fitting a combi fed shower and the back of the wall the shower will be mounted on is near a chimney breast. To minimise potential future leaks I've been thinking about plumbing from an accessible point to the shower in complete lengths of pipe, ie. no joins. Can anyone recommend flexi 15...

Best power shower method from Combi boiler

So, if I go down the fitting of a tank, what is the simplest method of getting a system . Is it a hot water tank with electric immersion coil with a pump supplying the shower mixer valve ? I wont be running two showers at the same time, nor a bath and shower but someone could run the hot tap...
