    Ensuite dampness

If it is turning it should be working. Most extractors work via the light switch. Unless you are very experienced in this area you should really get an electrician to make the change. You will also need to ensure a timed fan is fitted so it runs on clearing condensation ect after the light...

    Gas Safety Certificate

Had my inspection last week I have a large property with 2 boilers and a separate gas fire. Chap that did the test said everything was fine and that they would send the cert and the invoice in the post. Received the certificate today and it says that one of the boilers is not safe to use...

    Broken Drain

Thanks for your reply. We cannot pinpoint the exact year the property was built although we think it was around 1870 - 1880. The drain to the front we also think is a later addition as in common with other properties in the locality the front basement area was used as the 'coal hole' and the...

    Broken Drain

Anyone here with any experience of this? Please bear with me this is a bit of a saga! In July 2008 after a heavy storm my basement drain backed up. (There is very little fall on it between the appliances and the main sewer in the centre of the street). As a consequence effluent backed up the...

    No Hot Water in Tank

I was up there earlier this afternoon and there was no water flowing into it. I did trace one of the upwards pipes which acted as a vent hung over the tank like an overflow. The heating may have been on at the time though? Wouldn't this need to be the case for the pump to pump water up to the...

    No Hot Water in Tank

The pipes run on to the header tank. I looked up there but could not see a bleed valve on the end of either of them.. Unless you tell me I am mistaken? Space is of course limited

    No Hot Water in Tank

There is a boxed switch of some description just after the pump. When I switch on the CH the switch operates and the pipe run after it gets hot.

    No Hot Water in Tank

I would say Gravity HW Down and pumped CH although of course the same pump pushes the hot water up to the tank to heat the coil. The pump is in the same cupboard as the boiler which is in the basement, there are no others. Whole system is circa 1980 and the boiler is a Glowworm 85-100.

    saniflow

I put one in my basement back in the summer after no end of problems of the drain forever getting blocked. (Sealed that drain up I live near the seaside to stop future problems). This one discharges into my other soil runoff from another part of my property. Great little bit of kit provided...

    No Hot Water in Tank

Boiler works fine Central Heating and Rads working as they should. Pipe up to the coil in the hot water tank is hot but cold on the return out. I have worked out there is probably air in the coil stopping the flow but how do I bleed it. Boiler is in the basement Hot water tank is on the...

    Glow Worm 85/100 Replacement

I am looking to replace the old boiler. As the subject line it is a GW 85/100 and it looks about 30 years old (I inherited it with the house). It currently drives 13 radiators (it's a big house) with all but two being sited inside bedrooms. In addition I have a hot water cylinder at the top...

    Mitre Saw Recommendation

I am going to be fitting some new 169mm skirting boards to a bedroom in a couple of weeks, and this will be my first foray into the art of mitre'ing. Can anyone recommend a decent bit of kit that will get the job done? Screwfix have this on offer at the moment and for the price it looks...
