nope, its not there. its guess work. Judging by the rest of the plumbing in the house im not surprised.
Ive got a mate whose a plumber, he could intall one.
cheers gasman
i concur.
Im guessing then that a ridge vent would be useful in exhausting the moisture.
Im calling a roofer to get an estimate on the ridge vent. I may only need a few individual vents but its more likely the continuous system is required. Im not sure about the hip rafters and their...
if i understand you correctly...your asking are the soffit vents going to be small, every second soffit or so. Or run the whole length of the house.
I dont know whats best for my house but i reckon one every soffit will guarantee no moisture build up
As far as im aware soffit vents suck up...
I dont have soffits yet, Im going to make them soon.
I just figured that the ridge vents were necessary for the warmer air to rise and escape. Having revised this, i think they're only necessary in warmer climates ie, where there is a lot of hot air that that needs to escape from behind the...
Thanks for the reply but im not sure where your coming from.
I get that a stud cradle needs building.
Do i still need the cradle if im using kingspan? i cant think of another way to fit the insulation to the gable without a cradle - kingspan or not.
Hi all,
Im trying to create ventilation in the attic for insulation.
I need soffit vents and ridge vents.
Soffits are easy enough but if there is no ridge vent, can i do anything myself to create it? Or do i need a roofer? :?
I havent got a gable wall and i dont want a roof vent so...
I know the thread is old but Im doing the insulating myself now.
I have, 2 hours ago, with 70% of the insulation fitted, realised that i need 50mm ventilation between the sarking and insulation.
Problem.
The rafters are 110mm deep
The insulation is 100mm
I have to pull out the...
Hi folks,
Im insulating the loft and have got to the gable wall. the house is semi and the wall is on the neighbours side. How do I go about insulating this wall because their loft is un converted and will leak heat heavily.
Im using the kingspan batts for the roof but I may use fibreglass...
hey guys. thought id report my speed.
I'm in Dublin,
3MB
1200 noon = Down 2650kbps
Up 314kbps
Will try again when the americans go to work.
Does that affect everyones speed by the way or is that a rumor?
had the same problem.
It was that the lens was dirty.
Didnt bother with the air gun, thought it was a lost cause so i used vodka and kleenex.
Hey presto i have a ps2 that i didnt expect to have back!
Hey,
i'm insulating my loft/attic now too. Got the windows install two weeks ago so it going to be a proper room eventually. I'm also using the Kingspan tp10. Have you begun to install it yet? Its really easy to use as long as your joists are uniform, otherwise theres a lot of shaving and...

Thanks mate. I was looking for the expansion vessel in the wrong place. It was upstairs beside my imersion tank. Its hidden by towels and sheets so I never see it.
Anyways, sure enough there was the filling loop. I turned it on, though I still have to say I got no pressure gauge so I...
Thanks for the reply
As it goes, I have not found the red expansiion vessel. Should it be near the boiler? I'll keep looking although I think it might be the open vent system.
If it is, where do i go from here? can i increase the pressure in an open vent system. How do I get more water...
Its a Potterton Suprima 60 Boiler, 10 years old i think.
The system/rads hadnt been bled for the first 9 and a half years. Pure ignorance id say.
The downstairs rads are fully heated, upstairs ones half-half. They never filled up i dont think.
I have accidentally tried to bleed them...
Good evening folks. My first thread has been encouraged by the fact that pervious threads lead to dead ends for my problem. Nothing seems to be fully explained. Maybe I'm wrong, thats why im here. I look forward to posting more, I'm getting into the thick of this DIY stuff (attic conversion...
