    Tesla magic running low

I sometimes wonder how far "woke" or "PC" or whatever actually extends in real life? As the tyranny of the shouty minority extends further and further, people evolve ways of coping, and looking like they are embracing it, without actually really doing so. I suspect that all the management will...

Yes, they could run a cable up the inside of it and stick a couple of EV charging points on it... ;)

    Tesla magic running low

That may well be so, (I don't care much for Musk as a person, from what I've seen), but it's not really anything to do with EVs "per se". If Musk ran a chocolate factory, I imagine the same allegations could be made.

Stuck in France - Octavia mk 3 popped

+1 for an induction system leak. if you're lucky, a rubber hose blown off its connector. Appropriate sized hose clip and you'll be on your way again. If less lucky, a split hose, and you'll need a new one, but shouldn't be too costly. At worst, a burst intercooler, which would be more expensive.

    Tesla magic running low

Disappointing about the general reduction in demand for EVs, but Tesla have had this coming for a while now. They have an ageing passenger car offering, and as the rest of the "legacy" car industry catches up, they're finding themselves facing tough competition.

    12v Battery 'Life'

As others have said, they should live a lot longer than that. My wife's 2006 Nissan still had its original battery with Japanese writing on it, when it was written-off in 2019. And also as has been said, should be able to cope with at least a month left standing. Modern cars tend to...

    Tesla magic running low

And that's the trouble with price wars. You hit your own residuals as well as the competition! This is the biggest single reason for high depreciation of EVs. And like any emerging market, it is likely to see severe fluctuations in the early years, as new developments come thick and fast, new...

    Dipping toe into painting

I know! 20 pages into a thread about compressors and the finer points of spraying, to end up with a finish that a drunk, blind, one-armed man could have got with a bog brush!

    Tesla magic running low

It's funny how stories can be "spun" to suit the intended audience, isn't it? First of all, the "Tesla magic", well, yes, as new offerings come on to the market, Tesla is bound to lose market share. That would happen with any company. But remember, they're "losing share" from the coveted...

    Automatic Gearbox Freewheeling.

And diesels are better for the environment, from a CO2 emissions point of view. The problem is that they're worse from a local air quality point of view (especially when their manufacturers cheat)! I am no lover of politicians, (not by a long chalk!), but it's not really fair to blame them for...

    Suggestions For Brighter Reversing Bulbs

Yeah, the high performance filament lamps (Philips, Osram, or whoever) achieve some of their improved brightness by running the filament hotter, so they don't last as long. You pays your money and you takes your choice, as they say! I do think they make a noticeable improvement, though. The...

    Dipping toe into painting

Maybe worth starting a thread on this, as it's a completely separate issue and threads with significant "Nutjob" content tend to get bogged-down with irrelevant BS. In general, engine oil has antioxidants in it that get used up regardless of mileage, when exposed to air. That's why...

    New towbar electrics issue

Sorry, I didn't see your last bit! Again, on some cars, I think if it detects a caravan battery plugged in, it can revise the alternator output to make it charge the leisure batteries in the caravan at a higher priority than the car's battery if needed.

    New towbar electrics issue

Perhaps worth mentioning that a "dedicated" interface (i.e. one that works with the vehicle's CAN system, rather than just stops the warning lights), does a great deal more than just work the trailer lights. Most importantly, (depending on the age and complexity of the towing vehicle), it...

What Do People Generally Do About Headlights For Continent?

In answer to the OP's question, I've always used the stick-on beam deflectors. That said, on more modern lights, the dip cut-off is software-controlled, so you can often change them from left to right hand dip in the vehicle settings on the dashboard.
