Stuck 55mm brass nut in shower

What sort of grief might happen using an impact wrench on the nut? Have you used one before in my situation?

Stuck 55mm brass nut in shower

It is an exposed unit on the wall. Have put the flow control and temp knob back on for now. Did not know there was such a thing as a battery impact wrench. Must need a big socket. Thanks for reply. Shower still usable despite leak at the back.

Stuck 55mm brass nut in shower

Our Mira shower, not electric, is leaking so sent for a service kit. I have watched the Youtube video a few times to see how to do it. Why does it always look easy in these videos? I am unable to get the 55mm brass nut off using a pipe wrench to access the parts that need sorting. Tried the...

    Stiff flow control

I have a Mira 88 mixer shower that has been in use since we moved into the house which was a new build in 1995. The shower has worked fine for all the years. Got in shower last night as usual, flow control worked fine, went to turn it off and it had gone very stiff. Did manage to turn it off. My...

    ? Non standard tap valves.

Is there such a thing as a non standard tap valve? I have a dripping tap on my bath mixer tap. It is 28 yrs old. Must be a 3 /4" valve I thought, decided to have new tap heads as well so sent for a tap reviver kit with acrylic heads to match sink taps. Went to fit one on cold side first, easier...

    What's this?

Can anyone tell me what this is? T is located on the overflow pipe where it exits the main cold water tank in the loft. I have not noticed it before as it was covered by the tank insulation. Not a good picture I know, sorry. The pipe comes out at the bottom of the photo and the tank is behind it.

    ?problem replacing cistern

Thanks terryplumb and CBW, have a Dudley Edge syphon, meant to mention this, I realise it has an internal overflow wanted to plug old one but the other half wanted a back up in case internal one did not work, not worth arguing with her! Will try to cut old bend lengthways and see if it will...

    ?problem replacing cistern

finally got it back together and no leaks so far, only flushed it once at the moment. Had to change the Torbeck fill valve to a Fluidmaster with a brass shank, which I had in reserve as trying to get 6" flexi tail to screw on to plastic one I got it cross threaded, only a short tail and it does...

    ?problem replacing cistern

Hi Just Pumps, I tightened the wing nuts alternately a bit at a time. I took cistern off again but plate did not look bent when off. Cleaned up old plate as it seemed a bit thicker. Cistern did not look even when I put it back on, leaned over to the right slightly. Held it level while tightening...

    ?problem replacing cistern

Tried to tighten evenly but how has the plate bent? Will try a readjust. There are 411 reviews of this on Screwfix but after scrolling through loads of them, not all, can't see anyone else having this problem but on reviews of these on Amazon on different products a few people do mention the...

    ?problem replacing cistern

I have removed the cistern as it was leaking somewhere. It is a Shires make put in our new build 26 yrs ago. Got a new close coupling kit from Screwfix. Watched all the videos on how to do this, (always looks easy doesn't it?), Got the new syphon down pipe in. Dudley, put new bottom plastic nut...

    Closed coupled wc leak

Thanks for reply but my query was about whether there should be a washer of some sort between the fixing plate under the cistern and the cistern body as one of the videos showed a thin one which the plumber reused, but other videos did not show a washer.
