How to prepare sill for painting

Good point about the water pooling oops. I wasn't sure whether filler was overkill since there isn't any actual holes or pits just a difference of 2 layers of paint in places but I know that just painting over will not bring it up level. I'm guessing most diyers would just paint over. Last...

How to prepare sill for painting

Thanks for the reply oops. So I think that's what I'm trying to understand, if I have stripped some parts back a couple of layers and left sound paint in other parts is it recommended to use filler or is it ok just to paint over with undercoat and gloss?

How to prepare sill for painting

Hi all, I'd appreciate some advice on painting a masonry sill. The existing paint was pretty flaky to I started scraping and in parts managed to get right down to the bare masonry. I'm wondering now if I should try to strip the complete sill back but that will be pain as a lot is sound. If...

Fixing dripping tap, how to remove cartridge

Hi all, In took it upon myself to take apart and replace tap washers on bathroom taps that drip unless they closed very tightly. Having loosened and unscrewed the large nut I expected to be able to remove the cartridge and remove and replace the washer. However it seems like the lower part of...

What are these whits spots in my attic?

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to replace the loft ladder and fit slate vents front and back. Hopefully this will resolve the problem. If not then I'm not sure what else I can do. The insulation is pretty good and eaves are clear. The evenly spaced white spots made me think it might be...

    New bathroom basin tap

hi muggles, When i go to turn the new tap on there is little or no flow up until the tap is fully opened after about 2 turns, at that point there is a good flow. It is the same when shutting off, the flow just seems to be when the tap is fully open. There is nothing inbetween. Faulty Tap?

    mains stop tap

Ok that makes sense as I think the previous owner used gas. If thats the case then I'm pretty sure the mains tap is not in the house. It is quite an old house so could be in the road. Thanks for the swiftest replies ever!
