    Yay I have hot water!! Not quite sure how, I tapped a pipe and hey presto 30 minutes later - there it was!! Thanks for all your help guys :)

    Ok Ive just given the cold pipe from the valve to the cylinder a tap and it is now hot !?! Go figure!! Tough there still does not seem to be any hot water coming through the taps....grrrrr....

    Ok its wprking now - I have light!! Nobody shout at me, but I read the instructions and it appears I wired the new switch up wrong :S I still have no idea what the problem was to begin with but its working now and thanks for all your help guys :)

    A metal plate? Do you mean inside of the switch, hmmmn can remember its a stainless steel switch though I dont think thats what you mean. I can take it off and check if needs be. The two holes were marked L1 & L2 I think.

    The new switch? Just had one black box on the back with two screw holes. Then a seperate screw hole to the side for the green wire

    Nope nothing working at all. I've changed all three bulbs, changed the switch, there is an on/off pull cord on the light (which I never use) which I have pulled on and off - still nothing! Its very confusing, and frustrating as now it is getting dark. Im not sure if the fan is R/C - what...

    right I got a bit scared about the two wires one hole thing, so just purchased a new switch, a standard one not a dimmer this time. Ive replaced the switch and the light still doesn't work :S Any suggestions please?

    ok, I dont know what a choc block is so will presume just putting them in the same whole will work. There is no fuse in the switch, does this make a difference? What do I do with the earth if I get it?

    OK there is no fuse in the dimmer, so Im presuming i ned to get a new light switch - Is this correct? Would this be the case for the hall light also?

    Still the same, the cylinder pipe stays cold :( Im assuming I need a new valve then do I ? Anything else I can try? Is it possible its an air block as the radiators didnt work till I bleed the system?

    It does feel like it is connected to something, there is slight resistance. Not so much as I would regards it as stiff or needing any force to push accross. But enough to presume it wouldn't just fall accross if it was tilted or something if that makes sense. What happens now?

    Ive been watching the boiler too as Ive had it on water only, and it does appear to be cutting off after a while, then coming back on a gain after a few minutes

    nope not hot at all, its a bit warm near to the valve, but then gets colder as it moves towards the cylinder. How do I reset the valve? Ive looked at it and cant seem to see anything on it that would do that? * Im retrying the upload now
