Front of the house and the finish is dulux trade gloss, which was only painted 2 years ago. I was thinking of using Zinsser as an undercoat and maybe Sikkens XD gloss.

I appreciate any advice on decorating flaking weatherboard. I was going to rub down and use Zinsser then 2-3 coats of gloss for the weatherboard, but wanted to see what thoughts there were on a good quality primer/undercoat and gloss that will give 10 years service. I've been told that water...

Thanks ColJack. The lights were on even with the switch off. Had to disconnect via the consumer unit. I'll reconnect tomorrow and give it a go. I did not realise when i was posting before that the pir was also connected to the other light outside.

A simple I don't know would have done.

Thanks to all who gave advice. I now have a new problem although still with the pir. Both of the pir's work except they are permanently on. I've connected the black to LS, brown to L, grey (sleeved blue now) to N and the green sleeved to E. Have I got the black and brown the wrong way around...

The pir has just one light, although the three gang switch has two sets of lights on it as well as the pir.

It is a three gang GET switch. It looks like L1 L2 and Com. Could not pull it all the way as the wires are pretty tight.

No the switch is intack, although I did open it to take a look at the wiring to see if it would give me a clue about the wires for the pir light.

The switch for the pir is a three gang that also serves the toilet and utility room.

Forgot to mention that the switch is a three gang for the floodlight.

Got some sleeving today for E. Yes, they were. The wires are all doubled up so there are two of everything.

I guess £15.00-£30ish and would want at least 5 yrs out of a £30 odd quid pir. The one I have now is only 7 months old (taking it back for a refund) and it is playing up.

It could be a rethink then breezer about the LED. Maybe it will be a cheap pir from B&Q.
