Twin Light Socket - Fuse Spur

Either one of those options is perfect, thank you. May decide to move the FCB down actually as that is potentially going to be behind some furniture and then it's only a 2 switch on the wall still, so no changes are required there. Thanks.

Twin Light Socket - Fuse Spur

Thanks for the reply. Ah ok, yes I thought I would be able to come off of it, but was hoping there was a way to have a double switch with a fuse rather than having two boxes on the wall, just for neatness. Thanks

Twin Light Socket - Fuse Spur

Hi, I recently moved into a house and in the conservatory there is a fan and 12w light which is controlled by a single light switch with a fuse. Now I'd like to connect an outside light to this as well. Is this possible? Assuming that I cannot just change that single fuse switch to a...

Ok thanks. I'll monitor it over the next few days and see what happens. I must say the help on this forum is fantastic and so quick! Martin

Ariston Combi - No heating, but hot water is fine

Oh my god it has just started working! I fiddled about by putting the temp up and down to try and hear it click and first two times it didn't click, but tried a 3rd time and it clicked and the boiler has fired up and the heating is on! Now, I am hoping this has fixed it for good, but if it...

Ariston Combi - No heating, but hot water is fine

Thanks for the reply. Yes the timer is on and yes the CH dial is turned up. None of that has been touched for a long time. It was working fine this week, but stopped working today. The CH light does not illuminate nor the heating/boiler show any sign of coming on. Yes I have a wireless...

Ariston Combi - No heating, but hot water is fine

I have an Ariston Microgenuis 28 HE combi boiler and its around 18 months/2 years old. It has been on since the summer a few times and all was fine. But this evening, the central heating has stopped working. I have a drayton programmeable timer and its calling for the heating which is...

Plug socket too deep, can I get a slimmer version?

My back box looks deeper than the one in that pic! I have got a feeling it might be a 25mm after all, sorry! I am going to have to whip it off and measure up. It maybe that I switch the MK socket for a thicker fronted one like in the pic though.

Plug socket too deep, can I get a slimmer version?

Its a single socket and I think you're right its the wrong back box.

Plug socket too deep, can I get a slimmer version?

Its a stud wall. I think i'll take the socket out again this week and see if I can get the back box out and replace it with a deeper one. Though a spacer could be an option, but then i'd need longer screws I guess! Thanks Martin

Plug socket too deep, can I get a slimmer version?

Thanks for the replies. I have got a feeling by reading on this forum that I have the older style 16mm metal backbox which is probably why it doesn't fit! How hard would it be to change that for a 25mm deep one? The socket I want to fit is just a standard white one. I have plasterboard...

Plug socket too deep, can I get a slimmer version?

My house was built in the 1980's and a lot of the plug sockets dont have on and off switches, you simply put the plug in and it is on. I want to replace one of these so I brought a MK socket from B&Q, wired it up and then tried to put back on the wall but realised the back box wasn't deep...

Wiring a Drayton +2RF room stat to a Ariston Combi Boiler

Hi Steve, I am still having problems with the stat. All the wiring must be fine as it works and fires the boiler up, BUT it only works if the programmer is less than a foot away from the receiver. If you start to walk away it looses the signal. I have followed the instructions and put the...

Wiring a Drayton +2RF room stat to a Ariston Combi Boiler

Ah yes, Steve you're a legend. It works! Though I wish I had read your second reply before I took the boiler apart again. LOL. Thanks. I've got to work out how to use this programmer now.

Wiring a Drayton +2RF room stat to a Ariston Combi Boiler

Ok thanks Steve. I'll give that a go. So I have put the wires in the correct place. I just need to remove the mechanical timer.

Wiring a Drayton +2RF room stat to a Ariston Combi Boiler

Right, I removed the brown loop wire and placed the wires from the receiver in there. But the boiler wont fire from the Reciever, it is still working on the mechanical timer. Am I supposed to remove the 2 black wires on the right hand side of the terminal block which are connect to the...
