Honeywell 3 port valve electrical fault

Thanks for the replies, after a bit of digging on the net i found that this 109V is normal as has been said. Contacted Ideal and the grunt on the technical helpline was no help at all. Any idea what size resistor it would need? I assume it wants to go between the SL and N at the boiler.

Honeywell 3 port valve electrical fault

Bit of a head scratcher yesterday, fault on Y plan central heating system. Problem is, when the CH is turned on (with the room stat turned up) the boiler fires as normal but when you turn the stat down the boiler continues to run. When testing i found there was 109V between neutral and the...

    Earthing a TNS

My concern is the EC15's, i don't want to put my name to an installation where that sort of arrangement is present. I'll give my DNO a call and get them to sort me out with an MET.

    Earthing a TNS

Definitely not a TT supply. Worked on a few properties in that area of town and it's all TNS systems and considering the Ze obtained from the lead sheath its a dam good earth as well.

    downlighters

Sorry mate, wasn't wielding a knife at the time of making my comment so please don't take it the wrong way. I hope for your sake they bring out a nice LED retrofit soon with a decent output to save you from the R50 incandescents. You can sometimes fit a standard ES energy saver in some of those...

    downlighters

stunlawless the biggest mistake you made was even looking at the R50 lamps. All those style of mirror backed mains voltage halogens are a pile of the proverbial unfortunately.

    Hot Tub Wiring

2.5mm on a 32A supply? Even if it is an armoured cable that sounds a bit small. The isolator is designed to disconnect both live and neutral. Double pole isolation is mandatory in this case. The earths are never switched so must be permanently connected together and never via a switch. In my...

    downlighters

Just my 2p worth based on my kitchen. The kitchen is 3.5m x 4.5m and has 6x ELV 50W recessed lights installed. They are on a dimmer so we don't get blinded in the morning but can crank them right up for washing up and cooking. Installed 500mm in from the walls it gives light straight down on to...

    Earthing a TNS

Starting a partial rewire and consumer unit upgrade in a couple of weeks time. At the moment the service head has 2 lead cables coming in to the bottom of it which some bright spark has wrapped a couple of EC15's round which is a bit of a no no. Does anyone know where to get the proper copper...

    Replacing double light switch

I can see they're a tad short. Try your best with the picture other wise give us a break down of which wire goes to which terminal. A diagram of the switch exactly as it is now would be just as good as a photo. Don't forget to label it with C, L1 and L2 or L1, L2 and L3 depending on how the...

    Replacing double light switch

It's a bit difficult to see tbh. I think the two wires marked with yellow paint are the switch wires. They want to go in to L1 (one in each terminal). The remaining wires are permanent lives so need to go in to the common terminals. Again one wire in each common terminal and then the link (that...

    Anyone using LED undercabinet lights?

Righto, i have a feeling Aurora do some fluorescent fittings that have a triangular profile so they fit against the wall and under the cupboard. Similar idea to the link lights but designed for use without a cornice. In my opinion the CFL fittings are better then the LED fittings as they give a...

    Anyone using LED undercabinet lights?

The type of under cupboard lights i use most frequently is the T4 or T5 fluorescent link lights. They give a very good spread of light however you really need a cornice on the underside of the cupboard to hide them. They come in varying lengths and colour temperatures so shop around a little to...

    Generators

Good question, i assume it's only been designed this way to save on fuel.

    Generators

Got a few questions regarding generators. I installed one a good few years ago but it was nowhere near the size of this one. The proposal on this job is to install a large 165kVA generator for day use to run heavy loads in a packing plant as well as living accommodation. There will then be a...

What LED Replacement for 6 x 5OW Halogen Spots?

Try these for size. I've installed them before and have been impressed with the output. The Megaman lamps seem to last a long time. I doubt you will be overly impressed with LED alternatives at the moment as they are still lacking the light output to match halogen lamps.

    160v missing?

Well there is 230V between phase and neutral as well as phase and earth. Just a shame they forgot about the phase to phase bit. Maybe they were just numerically dyslexic!

New sockets in lathe & plaster walls? Extending cables?

In my experience i've always found it best to measure the height of your socket and mark it out. Then using a pad saw find the gap in the lath just above and below your socket and cut it out all the way to the timbers holding the lath either side of your new socket position. You then need to cut...

installing wiring for duel fuel double oven cooker

That's an interesting one to know, surprised it would do damage considering it's fairly innocuous stuff but hey what do we know.

installing wiring for duel fuel double oven cooker

Bottle of water with a bit of fairy liquid is all you need ain't it?! Back to the original bit of the question, it is not uncommon to find a 45A DP switch on a 32A cooker circuit. Infact that's all i install as Scolmore don't do a 32A DP switch in the range i use. Steve, are you...
