Just to follow up on my situation,got the heating engineer back and after a few visits he decided to replace the motorised valve and "touch wood" the ch and the dhw has been fine since.Thankyou jackthom for your replies to my post.I hope you read this.

J8ust managed to get the dhw to come on and noticed that the pressure stays at 1.5 but when the ch is on the pressure goes up to 2.0,is this right? should it happen like this?

I had one motorised valve replaced cos it was leaking ,that was in the summer and we didn't need the heating on then.And this has only started since the heating went on.You could be onto something there glasgowgas.

I'm so sorry D_Hailsham,i just had a look inside the cover of my so-called Danfoss TP3 (that's what it says on the outside) it could be a TP9 (what it says on the inside)sorry for any confusion :oops:

Hi, Our TP3 has a 5 day and 2 day timer for the ch and we can set the dhw to come on twice a day,each day.There is a thermostat in the hall plus control valves on each radiator.The water comes in through a gate valve to two motorised valves (1 for ch and 1 for dhw)
