Other houses in the area that were built by the same building have had similar extensions, would it be a reasonable assumption that the foundations maybe OK? Or could they have re-enforced rather then rebuild (don't know if that's possible)?

I have an attached garage and would like to building above it to gain an extra bedroom and bathroom. The garage is single skin but has double skin pillars and regular intervals.
Would I be able to building straight onto the existing garage or would it need reenforcing or rebuilding...

Yes the main switch is just a main switch. I bought the house about 4 1/2 years ago and they said it had just been rewired.
Is it possible to add RCD's to the board and what sort of rating would I need? Would it have to be a split load with 2 RCD's...

So you say that all circuits needs RCD protection now, is that lighting, shower, sockets, everything?
The CU that is installed is a Volex one, do you know if it is possible to change these in splitload units?
