    Hot tub wiring

So i'm about to start a new project to build a decking that will be used to hold a hot tub in the future. My question is, what do i need to keep in mind when doing the job? I assume the cable whilst needing to be rated for the current must be armoured? How deep does the cable need to be in...

White doors turning yellow in weeks!

Hi All, I bought a number of painted internal doors from B&Q. I thought by buying pre-painted i would save time.....but they had marks on them so i ended up patch painting anyway with a Dulux non-drip pure brilliant white paint. Within weeks the bits i have painted have yellowed and the...

    Vibrating tap

when you say change the tap insert, what exactly are you referring to? DO you mean the complete tap except the main body...i.e. the tap handle complete with the washers? By the way...im guessing the tap does not need re-grinding - thats only required when the tap doesnt seal properly?

    Vibrating tap

The cold water tap in my bathroom vibrates when shutting the tap....this has always been the case for the last 5 years....i found the only way to stop it was to turn the inline valve to almost 90 degrees such that you get only slightly above a trickle when you turn the tap on. This also creates...

PTFE on compression joints or not???

ok then....so PTFE on the olive or not? I could see the point when a crease gets on the PTFE, it creates a weak spot..... SO if we believe that....when do you ever use PTFE? I have also heard that PTFE acts as a lubricant on the threads....hmmm

PTFE on compression joints or not???

So...interesting debate time! There are alot of plumbers who swear blind by using PTFE tape on compression joint threads (3 turns clockwise or whatever). There are also many people who say you SHOULD NOT do this. Reason:- 1) The seal is created by the olive crushing into the pipe and...

    Shower pump install - vent

Ok - advice from Grundfos today was to run the system with pump turned off and with cold cylinder water to try to purge any trapped air. Then run with pump on and see if it fixes the problem....we will see, but im not so confident. @Seco - Why do you think there is a problem with having a...

    Shower pump install - vent

Hi Stem - your drawing shows a Surrey flange. I have fitted a WARIX flange......the submerged pipe on the WARIX feeds the top outlet.....so i know i have this right on my installation. However Grundfos seem to think i need a manual vent fitting.....i just cant understand why if i have this...

    Shower pump install - vent

Guys - the pump supply is from its own fused spur but on the same wiring back to the consumer unit. i.e. the RCD at the consumer uit supplies both. Anyway nothing wrong with that, wiring is well rated? (Not that the immersion heater is EVER used) ANyway - what about my question regarding the...

Hi all, Does the hot water feed to the pump in the pic below which is fed by a WARIX flange need a manual vent? Is it possible to ever get an air lock? What would happen is air did develop?? Thanks Matt

    Grundfos Niagara 2.0 twin problem

Hi, Well as its a thermostatic mixer valve - im not sure how much the cold is off in comparison to the hot. I understand what your saying - but at the same time - these things are designed to work together arnt they so the pump should be capable of that scenario?!? Personally - i think...

    Grundfos Niagara 2.0 twin problem

Update from this morning..... I have checked the inlet filters to the pump and they are ok....very litte dirt there and certainly not enough to restrict flow. Besides the water seems to run ok when just flowing under gravity. WHen the pump runs, it does make a funny noise now and then and...

    Grundfos Niagara 2.0 twin problem

Update.... Pump now working again so it must have thermally shut off. However when you set the bathroom thermostatic valve to fully hot it seems fine.....set it to cold and the pump seems to struggle and makes a noise?? Does this suggest the filter might be blocked? hence it trys harder to...

    P shaped bath plumbing

I have a 1700 P shaped bath with whirlpool. The filler has a 1/2" male thread on the 'P' section and the points downwards towards the whirlpool pipes running around the bath. My main pipe comes from the wall cavity from a theromstatic valve power by a showerpump. This is a 22mm pipe. Question...
