hi all, im going to be cutting a hole in my kitchen wall to fit a window and wondering if the concrete lintels that wickes sell are ok to use on inside and external of the wall ?? not sure if there just for internal or not... or would a cavity steel lintel be better? its a 1960's extension so...

i was thinking of doing a similar thing to some of my walls and i did think about plywood sheets under the plasterboard so things can be fixed to the wall much easier.. not sure if it would cause problems or not though..

some of mine have gone like that to... im planning on repointing the whole house next year so interested in any advice too.... i think its frost that makes the brick fronts come away like that

im thinking to repoint now after reading up on problems with render... do i have to use lime or would a weak cement mortar be ok? would i be better off leaving the job until summer? thanks

hi all... just want abit of advice please, i have a brick 1880's farmhouse of which the pointing is in a very bad way and some faces of bricks have come away and on the front of the house you can see where bricks have been added in the past and cement has been used instead of lime for...

ive just finished a loft conversion and my inspector insisted on 7x2 joists .... was my first time at anything like that before but was quite easy really... helped that i had a good inspector aswell...

heres a few pics of our cottage garden in the forest of dean... spent 100's of hours but not to much money on it... very chuffed with result apart from the fact weve just sold the house and now brought somewhere with an acre of garden.... looking forward to getting stuck into that one....

forgot to mention that its a 19th century cottage with no cavity as far as i know.....
