Hi, That time of year again where I am thinking about doing some odds and sods around the house. When we moved into our current house (5 years ago) there was a small crach above the window in our main bedroom. This crack was approx 20cm in length and was 2mm at the widest part. Over time...

    Soakaway blocked.

I have since been informed by my better half that the pipe has been rodded and flushed but in both cases was not able to get through the blockage. Next step is to dig up the pipe presumably? I will start at the downpipe end as the location of the soakaway is not known, does this sound the...

    Soakaway blocked.

Thanks, So you recommend digging up the pipe leading to the soakaway first. Presumably if this is all clear then the fault is with the soakaway itself and will need replacing or aquacells putting in? Chris

    Soakaway blocked.

Hi all, Somewhere along the way, my rainwater soakaway is blocked. Everyone who has given there suggestions have said that I need to install a new one. Although I am happy to do this, before going through with buying the bits, what is the best way to find out the cause of the blockage. I...

    Central Heating programmer not working

Hi All, Just thought I should update everyone. I managed to get hold of the electrician. Turns out he was on a v long holiday. Turns out the only fault that was his was that he did not check it before he left. The main problem was the sheister who used to own my house. He had wired up the...

    Central Heating programmer not working

Thanks for your help everyone. I am a bit simple when it comes to electrics, so will probably not try anything that could make my hair stand on end! The bottom line seems to be that I should get hold of the now infamous Nick to sort the problem. Thanks Chris

    Central Heating programmer not working

it has a switch on the wall next to it, would that be the spur? I have changed the fuse in that already, and it appears to spark when I turn it on with a fresh fuse. Would that mean its just blowing each fuse i put in there?

Thanks. There is no power to the programmer at all, not sure if there is power to the thermostat, it is just a dial.

    Central Heating programmer not working

Hi all, I have recently paid an electrician to do some fairly basic work in my lounge, move some sockets change the lights etc. He offered to change the central heating thermostat, as the existing one was a) old fashioned, and b) hanging off the wall. I remember that someone a while ago...
