Hi, thanks for help, I have managed to find the sounder and disconnected it. No alarm but at least I can drive the car.

Went to use the car today (Toyota Carina E 1997) and the alarm keeps activating. I have had to disconnect the battery to stop the alarm. Can anyone tell me the easiest way (for a novice) to disconnect the alarm. I can then use the car and have it repaired at my convenience. Regards, Dave

I forgot to say, the above mentioned joints are in the inspection chamber and where the soil pipe joins to the 2ft of open (gutter type) piece. Dave.

I'm glad to see more info on my problem. Yes pieman the rusted beads are partly coated with render and the rust is coming through, this why coating with rust proof primers don't seem to work. The beads are rusting all around the house, not in one particular area. I don't fancy moving the house...

Thanks for your comments shaggy, what you say makes sense. Perhaps this will be the only permanent way, I just don't look foreword to the job. I have tried 3 coats of Hammerite masona but the rust still comes through after about 2 months. I wonder if Comma Stop Rust will last longer. Dave
