How to wire solar divert alongside ASHP immersion controller

Thanks Flameport. Just to confirm (I want to make sure i get this right!), on the new contactor, connection 1 will have two wires in it, which are from positions 1 and L1 on the old contactor. And likewise, on the new contactor, connection 3 will have two wires in it, which are from positions 13...

How to wire solar divert alongside ASHP immersion controller

If anyone familiar with wiring contactor relays can confirm whether my proposed wiring is correct or not, that would be really helpful. Many thanks

How to wire solar divert alongside ASHP immersion controller

I ordered the schneider LC1K09008U7 '20A contactor 4 pole 2 NO and 2 NC contacts 240V coil' as in the link above. There aren't any clear instructions that i can find, but apparently R1/R2 and R3/R4 are the Normally Closed contacts, and 1/2 and 3/4 are the Normally open contacts. So, i guess that...

How to wire solar divert alongside ASHP immersion controller

@flameport This would do the job wouldn't it? https://www.cef.co.uk/catalogue/products/283599-20a-contactor-4-pole-2-no-and-2-nc-contacts-240v-coil-ac1 240v, 20A loads for each N/C and N/O, plus the A1 and A2 for the ASHP control.

How to wire solar divert alongside ASHP immersion controller

Many thanks for the info and diagram. That makes sense. I'll look for a like-for-like contactor i can swap out the old N/O only one with one that has both N/C and N/O. Looking through some of the Eaton info it seems that accessories can be added to these mini contactors, which *i think* can add...

How to wire solar divert alongside ASHP immersion controller

@SUNRAY Couldn't i put the ASHP on the N/O connection, and the solar on the N/C? Then the ASHP would have priority but the solar diverter would take over when there was electricity coming through.

How to wire solar divert alongside ASHP immersion controller

That would be handy if the contactor in there can already do it! Its an Eaton DIL EM-10-C XTMCC9A10. See photo.

How to wire solar divert alongside ASHP immersion controller

hi, Can anyone offer advice or point me in the right direction on how to wire in a solar divert feed into our existing wiring? The existing wiring looks like this (see photos below). There's an input feed coming from a secondary consumer unit in the utility room, into an isolator switch, then to...

Wrist pain using random orbital sander?

Thanks for the tips. I'll try to make sure I don't press so hard next time. Will also check out the pad and maybe buy another.

Wrist pain using random orbital sander?

Hi all, Bought myself a milwaukee M18 bos125 a few weeks ago. Its the first time I've used a ROS and I can't believe i didn't buy one before. It does a great job of sanding and the dust collecting is very good, but after I used it for the second time (and I used it for a few hours) i had quite...

building regulations and lowering sub floor

Thanks. Blimey, I really don't want to be digging inspection holes. Hopefully he won't notice. I don't think he needs to come inside for the final inspection as he's only got to assess the drains test.

building regulations and lowering sub floor

Hi, I'd like to just check something with experienced professionals. We've had some works done to our house, extension and interior alterations. For this we made a planning application which was accepted. That work has all been completed and we are about to have the final inspection from...

RCBO tripping with SWA extension to shed

There's a 32 and a 16 spare, but they are halfway along the consumer unit, and i found it really difficult to get the RCBOs off the copper live bar thing (looks like a big comb) to wire them up. I can't find an easy way to get at the clasp at the back of the RCBO to release it from the copper...

RCBO tripping with SWA extension to shed

Thanks Chivers67, you are spot on. I checked the rest of the roll this morning and its 6mm cables. The run is less than 25 m, probably somewhere between 15 and 20 m. It's buried in the house (under the screed), then in a conduit when it goes outside until it goes inside the shed. One more...

RCBO tripping with SWA extension to shed

Thanks for the info. Its a 3 core SWA with total outer diameter around 15 mm, not sure what the inner cable widths are but can check it tomorrow.

    LEDs and dimmers, Stepped dimmers?

Thanks. We've got lots of light in the room, but its a kitchen diner so would be nice to have the bright downlights dimmable.

RCBO tripping with SWA extension to shed

The RCBO the shed is connected to is rated at 30mA B6. I've just realised I'm an idiot. The 'B6' bit presumably means the amps, so I've wired the shed to a 6 amp fuse. No wonder it trips! So i guess i need a B16 or something? What does the 30 mA refer to? Is that something to do with power...

    LEDs and dimmers, Stepped dimmers?

Hello, We've got LED downlights in the kitchen (spec below). I'd like to change the light switch to a dimmer. 1. Anyone got a suggestion of good dimmer switches for these lights? We've used Varilight JQP252W V-Pro dimmers for other rooms but the dimmers are a bit variable (different LEDs at...

RCBO tripping with SWA extension to shed

Hi all, Hoping you can offer a novice some advice. We've had the house re-wired with a new fuse box with RCBOs. Our electrician left the build a while ago and has sadly passed away since. Before he left he didn't finish connecting up the SWA cable running to the shed, so I've done it using some...
