Automatic Air Vent on T2 Topway Heating Manifold - LEAK

After noticing a drop in pressure on the boiler I later found (after noticing a wet ceiling) a leak coming from the techno-varia auto air vent 1/2 on our central heating manifold (please see attached photos). The grey automatic vent (rather than black manual vent) was the source. I have since...

Adding a wall light and use power from another wall light?

Thank you very much - that's really helpful.

Adding a wall light and use power from another wall light?

Thanks again. They will have their own integral on/off switch which we don't actually plan to use, as they will be controlled from the light switch on the wall. However, would they still operate independently if we did use this integral switch to turn one or both of them off on their own when...

Adding a wall light and use power from another wall light?

Thank you very much. So if I discover 3 connections then my idea would work, but not if it is 4? I am not concerned about them operating independently - as long as they both go on and off from the main wall light switch. They do have an on/off switch on each light itself but we don't intend on...

Adding a wall light and use power from another wall light?

Hi all, I know this is very basic but different websites seem to suggest different things. I would like to add a wall light to a wall with an existing wall light. Is it possible to chase into the wall and run a cable directly from the existing wall light to the new one for power? The room is...

Easy and cleanest way to extend single gang to double

Personally, I.... - Draw around the backbox onto the wall to give myself a guide (using a spirt level and tape measure to make sure it is the correct height etc - this will be slightly different for you if you are just expanding a current hole) - With a hammer drill and a regular drill bit...

    Noisy Central Heating Pump

To be fair, and I have an old system including some microbore pipework, to get all of the air out can take weeks. When last drained, my pump was making noise for a good few weeks despite bleeds daily!!

    Radiator directly above a socket?

Yes I had considered a very tall thin rad but they would still take up more room side by side. My plan is for furniture either side of my setup therefore maximum space is needed and a tall thin rad would show above the top of the furniture which wouldn't look great. Thanks again all.

    Radiator directly above a socket?

I have a traditional brick build so the cables from the socket run downwards and under the floorboards. I know aesthetically it isn't great but I was worried I was missing a technical reason to not to do it. Needs must in a smaller house! Thanks all for replies and opinions.

    Radiator directly above a socket?

Due to space considerations, I would like to install a radiator directly above a 3-gang socket recessed into the wall. I have looked online and I cant find anything to say this firmly isnt allowed, but I understand the issue of a water filled unit near a socket. Can anybody advise about...

Laying paving slabs direct onto earth

At the end of my garden I have a section for raised beds. I used old but very large paving slabs and put down new paths between the beds. I just levelled the earth and laid the slabs straight down. None have moved or sunk, but that will depend on your soil type. Ultimately the longer you spend...

    Insulation in bay window framework?

It is 3", so I could get 50mm celotex or similar in there, if I can find a supplier nearby. Cheers.

    Insulation in bay window framework?

Thanks both. I am not planning on creating a larger void for more insulation purely because we are quite short of space. I will pack it out as best I can, unfortunately the joists are at angles and therefore it might be difficult to really pack it out tight but I will try. I may have to help to...

    Insulation in bay window framework?

Thanks for both posts. So I can either use the aluminimum tape or a roll of vapour barrier, such as the following from screwfix? http://www.screwfix.com/p/vapour-barrier-green-300ga-2-5-x-20m/12869 Is it just a case of trying to keep it taught as I place the plasterboard over the top of it...

    Insulation in bay window framework?

Thanks for your advice. My plan now is to pack out 'fairly tight' with kingspan or similar rigid insulation and use regular plasterboard over the top (which is what was there before) before skimming with plaster over the lot. I have seen other people advising a vapour barrier behind the...
