    Replacement shower quadrant screen

I think the brand was Roman based on some paperwork I have form when it was fitted (nearly 10years ago). Its the side glass that's broken, the two sliding doors are fine, but I'm happy to replace the whole enclosure, however, Roman seems to be quite an expensive brand compared to some others...

    Replacement shower quadrant screen

One of the sides of the shower screen shattered and I'm looking for a full replacement unit as it looks like you cant get just one section. I know the tray is 900x900mm but unsure is all quadrants are the same size and would fit or if I need additional measurements to get the correct one. Any...

    Wireless thermostat and controller

Thanks Jonathan, I have spoke to Ideal and they said I would need a smart bracket to work with the OpenTherm which although is an added cost, I will probably do! However, as the OpenTherm seems more involved and I ned a boiler engineer for this, I am now leaning towards the Nest 3rd gen...

    Wireless thermostat and controller

Photo of current install for clarity. I've just been reading up on the Halo stat and it seems like a good possibility. However would it be able to adjust the actual heating temperature at the boiler, given I have physical dials on the boiler?

    Wireless thermostat and controller

Thanks RandomGrinch, would it be the same terminals if I were to use non OT such as Hive? The boiler is due a service soon, so I may as well buy the stat and get the engineer to fit it at the same time?

    Wireless thermostat and controller

I have an Ideal Logic 30 combi with a mechanical 24hr timer but want to install a smart wireless thermostat like Hive, Nest, etc. However I've come across the term OpenTherm and wondered whether there was any benefit to installing a product compatible with this and if so any recommendations...

    Nice toona gate motors

Hi We have the Toona 4024 arms installed to the gates to our estate and they are working fine. However, due to the number of properties on the estate, we have issues form time to time whereby one resident is exiting as one is arriving. They both press the fob (on2e) to open the gate but it just...

    Retrofit UFH

Thanks Rob. I noted your comments in another thread and was ideally after the likes of your self commenting. One of the systems I looked at was almost like an open crate plastic system, which claimed to have very quick heat up time despite no insulation, but I can't see why we wouldn't use a...

    Retrofit UFH

Thanks Fixifflav, I have had a good read through the thread and although it discusses UFH in general, I was hoping for views specifically on retrofit. I understand UFH isn't for everyone and wont necessarily make huge energy savings, but its the comfort factor I was more interested in, of...

    Retrofit UFH

We are currently looking at carry out some improvements in our 7year old new build semi detached home, namely new flooring (Kardean or similar), remodeling the kitchen and a few other bits and pieces. One thing I always wished was that we installed UFH to the ground floor when the house was...

Is OK to drill into PVC to fit a door bell?

You can drill in to UPVC but make sure you use screws such as self tappers, as they will grip and seal the UPVC as they go in. Also be very careful not to over tighten as this will cause them to over thread the UPVC and work loose. Alternatively use a suitable UPVC glue?

Large gap at the bottom of aluminium patio doors

I have a similar issue with my UPVC patio doors where by the builder had a finished brisk level but the doors sit around 20mm above this with an exposed gap and no support. I have been looking for the best option as it lets in an awful draught, and didn't know whether I could use expanding foam...

Need help with a Patio Job quote.

Have you had quotes from other contractors. how did the costs compare? Have you seen examples of previous works similar to yours? How long have they been trading and what guarantees do they offer? Don't always assume cheapest (or indeed most expensive) is the best 'value'. What area of the...

    Metal shed flooring

Seems to be rain water seeping under the base of the shed as the metal frame is sat on the wooden floor, which sits out pas the frame by about 25mm all around.

    Metal shed flooring

Been chatting this over with a friend and we think the solution may be to use shallow strut on the floor to raise it above the finished level of the current floor, then lay a new timber floor down. I will lose about 30-40mm height but liveable. Anyone done anything similar, what timber floor do...

    Metal shed flooring

I have an 8x10' metal shed in the garden on a concrete base, with the shed bolted down to a wooden floor. Been in for about 3years now. The constant issue I have the edges inside the shed getting very wet and the moisture sub sequentially travelling along the wooden floor further in to the shed...
