Dimable directional (eg tilt) recessed lights for bathrooms?

PS, if anyone has any suggestions about getting a light such as: http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Main_Index/Lighting_Menu_Index/Bulkhead_Internal_Index/Bulk_Energy_3/index.html#GL_Circ which is dimmable then I would be delighted to hear it. Someone mentioned you didn't need just pull cord...

Dimable directional (eg tilt) recessed lights for bathrooms?

Thanks for the suggestions. I've been persuaded to look into other options, and was looking at these from the link that Chri5 provided: http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Main_Index/Lighting_Menu_Index/Bulkhead_Internal_Index/Bulk_Energy_3/index.html#GL_Circ But it appears that they aren't...

OK, well what would you suggest then?

Dimable directional (eg tilt) recessed lights for bathrooms?

Thanks flameport. I think I may drop the idea of swivel lights as I can only find one and you seem to get a lot more choice if you get non-swivel. "Whatever is fitted, they will still require some kind of enclosure constructing above the lights so that insulation can be supported a...

Lol now I don't know if you're being sarcastic :)

Dimable directional (eg tilt) recessed lights for bathrooms?

Thanks Steve. :) There is no dwelling above mine, but I figure that fire-rated would be safer, regardless... I won't worry too much about this aspect from now on though when choosing lights :) The IP65 I understood to be adequate protection from moisture ingress :) Cheers, James

Dimable directional (eg tilt) recessed lights for bathrooms?

Thanks for the info. I think I will get my dad to speak to his friend about multiple switches then. Alternatively, apart from being IP65 and fire-rated, what else do I need to consider for the building regs when buying the lights, or is it just an "on installation" problem, that Keith can...

Dimable directional (eg tilt) recessed lights for bathrooms?

Thanks for the info, but unfortunately I do want to dim them if possible so I guess that's out of the question. Any idea on whether they are IP65? As it appears from all your advice that my ideal light doesn't exist so I may have to just compromise on the dimming. Does anyone know of any...

Dimable directional (eg tilt) recessed lights for bathrooms?

I don't know what notfiy the LABC means but he's "part P qualified" [in laymans terms, sorry if that's not the right terminology!] so I imagine he can do everything he needs to :)

Dimable directional (eg tilt) recessed lights for bathrooms?

Nope, It's my dads mate and my dad has just mentioned that he'd like him to come round to do a bit of work, which is fine for a few beers as long as I can get everything sorted myself with respect to buying the right bits etc. I kind of figured that's fair enough for a freebie...

    Bathroom lighting... recessed spotlights

:) OK so maybe down-lighters aren't the best plan... I think I'll abandon this thread for now and see if I can get some suggestions for bathroom lighting in the other thread I started :)

    Bathroom lighting... recessed spotlights

Because there's already one there and I don't want Keith to have to go to too much work. I thought it would be easier to just swap out one pull cord for another. What are the alternatives? Apart from this: http://www.automatedhome.co.uk/New-Products/New-Hidden-Bathroom-Dimmer-Switch.html...

Dimable directional (eg tilt) recessed lights for bathrooms?

Hi everyone, I was looking for suggestions on recessed dimmable lighting for the bathroom, that would look good and provide a warm natural kind of light. I have loft space above my bathroom that's easily accessible for any installations, I just need to buy it and then my dad's friend who...

    Bathroom lighting... recessed spotlights

Sorry I'm not trying to be awkward, I just would be interested to know what you'd suggest to get quality lighting (not neccessarily cheap). I see another thread where ban-all-sheds expressed that he didn't like these sorts of lights but I can't see any alternatives suggested there either. It...

Wow you guys are all very energy concious. :) I'm happy to listen to suggestions if you have better ideas but so far all I've been told is that what I want is bad without any suitable alternative :)

    Bathroom lighting... recessed spotlights

Hiya, Thanks for the info on 240v Vs 12v. :) From my perspective as a sane man, energy saving bulbs take an annoying amount of time to warm up, are undimmable, and not recessed, which looks quite unslightly in a bathroom.:) Edited to clarify. By look quite unsightly, I mean they're...

    Bathroom lighting... recessed spotlights

In response to flameport: Lol OK that's thrown all my ideas out the window. I understand that they're less efficient than the current light, but I don't like the current light, whilst I do like the idea of halogen spot lights (and have seen them in other people's places and think they look...

    Bathroom lighting... recessed spotlights

Hi folks, I'm buying my lighting for my new bathroom. I currently have one normal energy-saving-bulb in there, on a pull cord switch. I'd like to replace this with 4 x 35w halogen recessed lights with a dimming pull cord. Having googled plenty on my options I've come to the conclusion...
