Roof leak due to faulty work

In my opinion it looks like it needs a GRP wall abutment flashing installed.

    Roof Fascia Issue

Should be a lead gutter there laid into a timber box section with the bargeboard over that. The whole design is completely wrong as the angle of the roof is constantly running water into the bargeboards...horrendous.

Leaking 15 degree roof with Velux windows and Sandtoft 20/20

I would be looking at the lead flashings joining the wall at the top personally. I suspect water getting in through crap flashings or pointing, hitting the felt underneath and running in at the top of the windows where the felt has been cut.

Hi guys, got a large job im pricing, customer wants to use natural slates 10 x 20 fixed using those black slate to batten hooks that they use in france. Just have a couple of questions, do you batten the roof with normal spacings ? My thinking is that the roof is battened as normal with an...

    Slate verge

Probably a few divided opinions on this one. The way he has done it in my opinion is acceptable, but i would run a neat bead of black mastic after slating to close in the small gaps you are talking about. The pros of doing it the way he has done it is that it is maintanence free and very...

    Strengthening roof prior to re-roof

Looks pretty strong as is as long as the timbers are good but a bit of strengthening always helps. You are on the right track about bracing the roof at the top although when we do it we use 4x2 and bolts.

Flat roof, liquid plastic costing cost per square metre

What was you originally looking to put on the roof as a covering?. Wouldnt cost a lot to put a three layer felt roof on something that size, probably about £700.00 all in. I dont deal with the liquid roofing myself but m sure its dearer....

Flat roof - Firestone EPDM - advice

Pah, stuff all this rubber nonsense, it looks like grandpa's nutsack when the summer sun shines on it. Just get it refelted, modern felts are so much better than what you probably have up there and you would get a complete guaranteed 3 layer job all in for £400.00 without getting your hands...

Leaking roof - advice needed please

Go to the NFRC website and search for contractors in your area, just put in your postcode. As a general rule contractors who would sign up for this are genuine (its hassle and costs quite a lot of money to prove your trustworthy) Get a least two quotes and post them up on here possibly...

    Best roof membrane to use?

seconded - klober permo is excellent and reinforced.. Dont be tempted by budget breather membranes as they are like tissue paper, cromar vent 3 for example is awful.

    Felting a flat concrete roof?

I would estimate you would get this done for around £350- 400 all in and it would also be guaranteed and you dont have to get your mitts covered in black stuff!

    Felting a flat concrete roof?

First of all forget about wickes ! For a concrete roof we would usually clean and scrape the surface of the roof until all old moss and dirt is gone, sweep it spotless then apply two coats of bitumen primer which will soak into the substrate and give you a good surface to start on.(let this...

Advice on new garage roof leaking....

Even if you strip the felt out when and redo in rubber there will still be standing water in the box gutter which isnt ideal if a fall isnt put onto it. There will still be some joins in a rubber membrane but i think it is more suitable than felt.(still think grp would be miles better). If...

Extension roof design - valley + gutter help

The width of the box gutter will be determined by the pitch of the two roofs but ideally you would want to be getting 600mm + to stop it blocking with leaves and to give you an easy access for maintenance. It should be an 18mm plywood construction and stepped up 100mm at every 1.2 metres...
