I drained my system [gravity fed] to get rid of rubbish in the water and re-dosed with protector chemicals. But ... when re-starting the boiler, I got an error F5 - which I now know means it overheated (because I didn't read the instructions in the manual properly ... yes, I know ...)...

Hey, that would be a good idea! It's a Watermill PC 50DLV - which is a low voltage pump.

I have a problem with my shower pump. It's both noisy, with a grinding-type noise, and doesn't pump hot water. In recent days, it's also activated itself when you run hot water in the bath. I'd be grateful for any ideas about the cause of this - and your views about replacing only the parts...

Thanks for all the useful replies. Now, after about 1 week, the system is sounding like a cross-channel ferry with periods where it's very noisy. Looking at previous posts, there are comments that Vaillants need to have clean systems. Do you think that the system hasn't been flushed as well...
