Diplomat APM8722 Washer Dryer problem - HELP PLEASE!?

Hi I have a fully integrated Diplomat (MFI) 1200rpm Washer Dryer (Model No. APM8722) I'm fully aware that it is probably a bag of spaners in terms of quality - but it was "free" with the kitchen I bought so we thought we'd give it a whirl and it seemed to be working fine. Anyway - six...

Advice on making a gravel drive on a slope

Thanks one and all Kids arent a problem much out here in the sticks. I might pave the slope if I can dig out the stuff thats there easily enough and then use the edge on the flat to hold back the gravel as suggested. Thanks

FLOORING - Probably a daft question - but help needed

Can anyone tell me if those "Loft Board" packs they do are suitable for using on other floors? I recently had to rip up a large section of floorboards to remove a chimney and they are too ropey to put back down. If not, other than laying new pine floorboards, what is an easy and effective...

Advice on making a gravel drive on a slope

Hi all I have a driveway that is generally flat but begins with a slope about 15 feet long and slopes up about a metre and a half from the roadside / footpath onto the flat level where my house is. We arent talking about a major slope here but is enough for me to be asking advice...so...

Thanks for that - Sadly the blocks are much shorter than mine so are no good. I'll keep looking but dont hold out much hope - so might try to do my own on a test block or two.

Need Help - Block render / coating advice??? With Picture.

Are you sure? I can get some that look similar but are a totally different size. Much smaller than the ones I need which are huge heavy concrete block things. I'm in Wiltshire - Staffs might be too far. Do you know the supplier(s)? I dont know why they dont do them down here anymore, but I...

    Creating Gravel Driveway

Hi I'm sure an expert will come on and give you some full advice here. I would guess that you need to dig deeper and put a good layer of scalpings or sand underneath the gravel. Without this you will end up with problems such as the one you mentioned.

Need Help - Block render / coating advice??? With Picture.

Hi all I'm having a right big problem here. I need to cover some normal concrete blocks in a render or coating of some sort to match fairly closely with the blocks on the below picture. I blocked up an old external doorway you see. Yes, they are not very attractive, I know - but its a...

    Minor work - MAJOR problem?!

I admit it would be totally shocking in an urban area and given the choice I wouldnt have it like that, but budgets, location, large gardens and other factors made it a good buy. It doesnt look so bad in context as its on a quiet road set back on a driveway on the outskirts of a village which...

    Minor work - MAJOR problem?!

I should add that my house was built in 1927 so concur with the post a couple above mine about the house built in the 1930's. Thanks for the tips. It was the "Pre-cast" and "Marshallite" words that are most of use to me (Although I dont think the blocks are actually marshalite, if I can find...

    Minor work - MAJOR problem?!

Thermo Thanks for the info. I know they are pretty yuck - but the whole house is covered in them, so I have to make do. (In context they dont look as horrendous as the snap shots and since I sandblasted and repointed the walls they look about as good as they could ever do) -but I agree...

    Minor work - MAJOR problem?!

Just in case - here are a couple of url links to them. I am at a total loss as to where I can find anything resembling these blocks. http://uk.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/wiltshirebacon/detail?.dir=81d8&.dnm=b7b9re2.jpg&.src=ph...

    Minor work - MAJOR problem?!

I can see two - very clearly - I posted them as image files? How bizarre. Mind you it's probably my fault somewhere along the line - not being very Computer Techy. Can no one else see them then?

putting french doors where an existing window is sited

You can even do it with a narrower window like we have. We have tall ceilings and so tall windows - here we got round it with designing in a glazed upvc piece which is situated over the doors. Only put these in last week, so work still to be done re plastering etc. You can even see I have to...

    Minor work - MAJOR problem?!

Dear all Can anyone tell me where the heck I can get blocks that look like these!! I have to fill up an old back door where I have moved the access point. Matching Brick Companies have said they cant help as they only deal in "Bricks". These are quite big and heavy concrete aggregate...

    Water under floor

Breezers solution is not that expensive really! You need to dig a hole and put a pump in the middle of it. It doesnt need to be a massive hole but big enough to pool the water and line the sides with bricks or slabs to stop it collapsing. Fill it with gravel and make sure the pump has an...

Costs to put right dodgy removal of chimney breast! Help!

Well. Party wall agreements can take just ten minutes to get sorted if you have good neighbours? A quick signed letter stating they have no objection to the work being carried out is all that is needed. You can write out the letter and just ask them to sign and date it if they agree the...

    Help with joist support problem

Thanks guys. I like the idea of a joist hanger myself, as its the easiest solution...however, I might be being a bit of a div here but...... I have looked on google and cant find any that are suitable. I'm guessing some sort of wood to masonry hangers exist - but which ones are the best...

    Ceiling joists query.

No its not for the ceiling - BCO got involved due to the kitchen being gutted, re-wired and new rear exit fitted to the house - also due to removing old chimney breast on a party wall. They have seen I will need a new joist and will be making sure it is acceptable as part of the work. Hope...
