Hot Water Cylinder on Economy 7 coming on during peak hours

Of course not. But they are responsible for my meter, not Northern Powergrid. So I’ve reported it in the correct way and it is being dealt with.

Hot Water Cylinder on Economy 7 coming on during peak hours

Yes. They’ve said they will need an electricians report first so have asked if I can get an electrician to confirm the meter set up and if I do that, they’ll cover the rest.

Hot Water Cylinder on Economy 7 coming on during peak hours

You’re correct, they didn’t. But they have now just come back to me to ask if they can install 1 5 terminal 2-rate meter to rectify the issue.

Thanks but Northern Powergrid advise the following on who owns what when looking to move a meter (which I’m not but this still explains who is responsible for what). Northern Powergrid - we are responsible for moving the service cable and fuse that is connected to your meter. Your Electricity...

Hot Water Cylinder on Economy 7 coming on during peak hours

I’m not sure I understand this? Bulb own the meter. Northern Electric don’t exist anymore. So the first point of call has to be with the meter surely which belongs to my energy supplier.

Hot Water Cylinder on Economy 7 coming on during peak hours

So just as an update to this. I’ve spoken to bulb(my electric supplier) today who agree that it should only come on between 0:00 and 07:00. I’ve taken a video of cylinder today powered on and also a video of the meter showing the red lights flashing on both the peak and off peak at the same time...

Hot Water Cylinder on Economy 7 coming on during peak hours

Thanks Alec_t, yes, that only controls the boost option if you want to use the boost. And then depending how many times you press it, it will come on for either half an hour, one hour or two hours or off again if you press it 4 times. it just seemed weird that it came on by it’s own accord...

Hot Water Cylinder on Economy 7 coming on during peak hours

I guess the bit I’m also having a problem with is if it was down to the tariff switching, why would it not have switched straight back on when I turned the wall switch back on? All I did was flick it off and back on again and it stopped heating up.

Hot Water Cylinder on Economy 7 coming on during peak hours

Thanks. I'm not certain that it is doing this every day though. Is there any possible way something could be faulty with it somewhere or wired up incorrectly?

Hot Water Cylinder on Economy 7 coming on during peak hours

Hi all, Just as a bit of background, I live in a 2 bedroom ground floor apartment. There’s no gas and everything runs off electric. I’ve been here 5 years and have always had fairly high electric bills (around £180 per month and can go higher in the winter). I’ve got night storage heaters in...

Can I connect a light switch to an existing plug socket

So, if I am right PrenticeBoyofDerry, I would get an unswitched 13Amp connection unit and place it close to the double plug socket so that it is out of view. Could I then wire this up to a single dimmer switch in the extension area and connect inset downlighters in the ceiling?

Can I connect a light switch to an existing plug socket

Hi, We had a small extension built on the side of the house a few years ago. At the time, we never bothered having any lights installed on the ceiling inside. It is quite dark in that area of the house. I was wondering if it is possible to connect a light switch to a nearby double plug socket...
