    BT overhead drop line

If the house was next to an exchange then fair point. But I can't see how a couple of wires going to someone's house over "your" land, could even remotely be classed as apparatus. Also - purchasing and owning any land and enjoying any benefits - I don't believe will be overridden to allow BT...

    BT overhead drop line

I wouldn't have thought BT could prevent a 2 storey extension nor could they ask you to pay for the re-routing of someone else's line. Not unless they have a legal agreement with the current houseowner to run a line over his land. Why don;t you ask the current owners whether they have such an...

Viper - no LED (EOL Resistor??)

Checked the Vipers last night and using a flylead to connect SET to 0v and 12v the Viper behaved as expected. Even the FTA bit. The one thing I am stumped with is in the instructions - for 8 core (remote LED and FTA), it mentions that all the Vipers (GLX) have the FTA terminals connected...

Viper - no LED (EOL Resistor??)

Update - just spoken to Honeywell Tech Support. The way 7 core (Remote LED) works is that SET has to see 0V then 12V (when the system is armed), if the system is triggered, upon un-setting the system at the keypad, the triggered zone should light up, looking at the Vipers - the triggered one...

Viper - no LED (EOL Resistor??)

I have a Texecom R8 panel with a few Vipers (GLX). Originally the Vipers where wired in series using 6 core on one zone with double knock enabled and the LED enabled. All worked well. I decided I wanted to wired them using 8 core to enable the remote LED control. Wired them exactly...

    Need some CCTV/DVR/PC advice

Ask yourself the question - what do you want from CCTV system? What are you hoping to achieve with it? Catch the neighbours dog dumping on your lawn? See grainy pictures of scum peering into your house or even breaking in, but the image is of no to good man or beast? Or - get pictures of...

    Need some CCTV/DVR/PC advice

As someone else has said - anything other than a DVR is realistically a waste of time and money. Although this will probably come to light after the event - i.e. when you've had some sort of break-in and need the images. Cameras - for recording at night, you are likely to have to spend...

    PIR's - advice required

I'm shopping for PIR's for a Premier 48 panel (with RKP's ,etc.) It's for an upgrade for a Veritas 8 and Reflex units. It'll all be EOL wiring. I was looking at the AMDT units, but then wondered whether AM was actually worth it in a domestic premises? Although wiring for T-EOL with a...
