    waste pipe behind built-in oven

About to fit my new kitchen. Worried about the 40mm waste pipe that runs behind where the built-in single oven will be. Cabinet depth is 565mm. Oven depth is 540mm. waste pipe protudes 52mm from wall. So it doesn't fit by, 37mm. Anyone got any ideas on how to make this work, other...

    cooker hood vent

Got an electrician coming to wire in my new cooker hood on Monday. Had been planning to get a carbon filter and use it in re-circulating mode, but now thinking again... The cooker hood will be on an external wall, but the other side of the wall is the neighbour's garden. Would I need any...

new consumer unit + kitchen sockets

thanks for all the ideas guys. i quite liked the idea of having the sockets mounted inside the cupboards, but I presume the electrician will need to do his work before the cupboards go in.... and arranging a second visit might add cost / time... I guess I'll talk to him about it. Thanks...

new consumer unit + kitchen sockets

Hi, I'm replacing my kitchen, thinking about getting someone in to do the sockets and relace the consumer unit at the same time (want RCD protection to keep the little one safe.) Got somebody coming round tomorrow to give me a quote. Would appreciate some tips on what to ask for to keep the...

    air getting into heating system?

Thanks guys. I'll try the running one-rad-at-a-time then bleeding suggestion first. Nothing to lose! I tried tightening the rad valve gland nuts on the radiators I changed, but that hasn't fixed the problem. I guess I try this on all the other rads too (again, nothing to lose...) I'd be...

    air getting into heating system?

Thanks for all the ideas guys. Here's some of the info requested: Inhibitor: added a whole tube of Fernox Super Concentrate when I filled the system. Pressure: looking more closely, peaks at about 1.4bar when the boiler's running, drops to about 1.1bar when the boiler thermometer...

    air getting into heating system?

About a year ago, we had a Worcester Bosch combi installed to replace the old regular boiler, converting our heating from open vented to sealed. This caused one of the rads downstairs to spring a small leak. I replaced the leaky rad a couple of months ago, and replaced the bathroom radiator...

    Boiler won't stay on

The pilot flame looks to be fine, albiet to my admittedly untrained eyes. When I turn the heating on, there's usually a loud CLICK before the burner turns on, and I'm not hearing that - so maybe the suggestion of a faulty gas valve is correct :(

    Boiler won't stay on

Hi, I have an Eastham Maxal 40 boiler. The pilot light is on, it has power (because the water pump is running), but it won't stay turned on. Occaionsally I can get it to turn on for a minute or so, but then the gas turns off and I'm left with the pilot light again. The boiler thermostat...

    Daily Pump Air Bleed!

Cool, thanks. That all checks out and my vent can't go any higher. I think that the pipe run to the hot water tank may be partially blocked, which is maybe why I need the high pump pressure (although I have no idea how it could have got that way.) Do you think that power flushing ever...

    Daily Pump Air Bleed!

I have a similar problem - I'm having to bleed my radiators every couple of days, plus they're a bit noisy due to the air moving around I presume. It started last year when I had to fit a new pump. For some reason I have to have the pump on maximum power otherwise my water tank doesn't get...
