Boiler won't stay on

Hi,

I have an Eastham Maxal 40 boiler. The pilot light is on, it has power (because the water pump is running), but it won't stay turned on. Occaionsally I can get it to turn on for a minute or so, but then the gas turns off and I'm left with the pilot light again.

The boiler thermostat is definitely turned up high.

Does anyone have any ideas what the problem is likely to be?

The pilot flame looks to be fine, albiet to my admittedly untrained eyes.

When I turn the heating on, there's usually a loud CLICK before the burner turns on, and I'm not hearing that - so maybe the suggestion of a faulty gas valve is correct
