    Leaky Pipe, Advice Needed

Ah, that was me. The original valve failed maybe a couple of years back and I replaced it myself. I can't remember much about it, but I guess I was a bit paranoid about further leaks. (y)

    Leaky Pipe, Advice Needed

Thank you Chris and Terry for your answers. Would I be correct in presuming that extending the pipe would essentially require a replacement piece of pipe, which would need cut to the correct size? If so, I think this is getting beyond my skill level, and I would probably have to get a...

    Leaky Pipe, Advice Needed

Hi folks, I have issues with a leaky pipe under my kitchen sink. The leak started when we had sub-zero temps a couple of months back. I managed to identify the bit of pipe in question as being the bit which leads out through the wall to the outside tap. I turned the valve(?) off and that...

    replacing a bathroom extractor fan

This is great! Yes, I've located the thing inside the unit to turn in order to adjust the time it stays on, so maximum speed with timer control would make sense. What's the best way of adding the 'link' for the brown wire(s)?

    replacing a bathroom extractor fan

The bathroom light is actually wired seperately. There's three switches for the room, one for the light, one for the fan, and one for the medicine cabinet which has lights of its own and a demister.

    replacing a bathroom extractor fan

The labels on the old fan are N (grey), L, (brown) LT (black) and then the unused one is L1. The new fan is a 'Vortice Inline Extractor Fan 17021' The diagrams in the manual are below -

    replacing a bathroom extractor fan

Hello awesome peeps, I'm just looking for a quick bit of wiring advice. I'm in the process of replacing a bathroom extractor fan with a different model, and I'm not quite sure how to wire it up (the manual it came with didn't have anything useful in this respect) Below is a picture of the two...

    Extractor Fan Issue

Hi folks, The extractor fan for my en-suite has died, which has surprised me a touch, as the property was a new build when I moved in about three and a half years ago, and it's not had nearly as much use as the extractor fan above the main bathroom. The fan is situated in the loft above the...

    Outside Tap not flowing

The thick gloopy stuff that plumbers use to help get a watertight seal? At least, they used to use it, cos I bought the stuff from a plumber's merchant's a few years ago!

    Outside Tap not flowing

Thanks so much footprints and Stivino. I followed your suggestions and managed to track the problem down to the non-return valve. Having no idea how these things work, I wasn't able to work out exactly what/why the water wasn't flowing through it, but I was fortunate enough to find a...

    Outside Tap not flowing

Thanks footprints. Yep, I knew about the quarter-turn thing, but it defo made sense to check! I tried your suggestion, and gave the brass valve a few good taps with the end a heavy screwdriver but it's not made any difference. I'm still only getting a trickly through when it's 'turned on' :(

    Outside Tap not flowing

Hi folks, A few weeks ago I turned on my outside tap and no water came out. It'd always worked fine, no problems ever, and had last been used a couple of days previously. As there was snow on the ground, I presumed it was just frozen. A couple of days after the weather had warmed up a good bit...

    Laying Concrete Base for Greenhouse

Hi guys, My gf's ordered a greenhouse online and is now bugging me to sort out a base for it so she can have it delivered and grow...... whatever grows over winter LOL. She's also insisiting that a path must go to the greenhouse. She's planning on having some fancy slabs delivered and wants me...

    Exterior Painting in Winter

Thanks Footprints and Bosswhite. I've noticed that all the paints seem to instruct not to apply when the temp is less than 10 degrees. Do you think could I get away with a lower temp - e.g. 5 or 7 - if the sun was shining on it? Or is the 10 degrees something which is strictly mandatory and I...

    Exterior Painting in Winter

Hi all, House been on market for a couple of weeks, a few viewers, but no offers. We're a bit disappointed, at it's in good nick, great location, well-marketed and at a sensible price. The only slightly negative feedback we've received is that the upstairs/bedrooms are quite small. This is...

SKY TV In More Than One Room?

Hi guys, In short, I want to have SKY in more than one room. The full story is longer, but I'll keep it to the facts so that it doesn't get too complicated! Some years ago, at a previous address, I had bog-standard SKY in my living room (downstairs) and then I upgraded to SKY+. When I...
