Kitchen restoration. New Doors etc. Best Place?? How?

Firms that specialise in replacement doors etc can be VERY expensive, I worked for the one mentioned above and could not believe what people were paying for doors and worktops. If your doors are a standard size and you are not looking for anything out of the ordinary try B&Q's off the shelf...

    Islamonazism the real danger ?

Julie, how can we be sure it was you who said ok, is there any chance Dave did it, when you were not looking?

    Faith vs Function

If the rules of the house are reasonable, then yes you follow them. Removing shoes and then carring out manual work with tools is not only unreasonable, it's dangerous, some years ago I dropped something on my foot and broke 3 toes, it was many months before I could walk properly and that was...

    Portable satellite-nav

I bought a tomtom 700 couple of weeks ago, I have used nothing else to compare it with but will say that I'm totally impressed by it's accuracy. When disconnected from a power supply it runs for up to 4 hours on it's built in batteries and comes with a small carry pouch with a wrist cord...

    Baumatic quality

I've had a fair amount of dealings with their appliances but not the whole range. I think it is a real 50/50 split between the stuff being ok and rubbish, the ones who say it's ok, usually add for the money. Personally I don't like the stuff and would never buy it, I've asked 2 people that I...

    Trafficking women for prostitiution

I'm no expert but I did work with somebody a while back, who was interested in the history of porn, it was his intention to write a book on the whole subject. A snuff movie is exactly that, the person which doesn't have to be a woman or adult, is murdered not just raped. He showed us an...

Best table saw for around £150?

There are quite a few to choose from in your price range, all much the same and all about the same qualaty. The one big-all suggested is not bad, if it was me I'd go for that and with the 30 odd quid left buy a better blade, as generally the blades supplied are not up to much.

cutting a worktop with a router

Unless the wall is very bad, there is no need to scribe the back as tiles or trim will hide any gap. If the length is not too long, you could run a plane along the back edge. I find it a lot easier to take any large high spots off the wall. Whatever you decide to do, remember to keep...

    belfast sink

I got asked by a customer to do this, I couldn't see how it could be done and last for any length of time. I posted the question on another forum and got 5 replies, all from kitchen fitters/ carpenters, they all said walk away from it. One had done it against his better judgement and had the...

    Start up power

Is it possible to work out how many amps will be drawn on startup? A mobile air conditioner draws 5.1 amps when running, cooling input 1130 watts, max output 1730watts ( figures from website), I am limited to 16 amps on a caravan site, is it liable to trip on startup. Thanks

    Help with cordless laptop please.

Early next year we intend to give up everything and buy a motorhome, touring first in this country then Europe. My questions, would a laptop still work, bearing in mind some locations would be fairly remote and would one purchesed in the U.K. work in Europe? If anyone answers this please...

Raising oven in housing - what should it sit in?

An oven would generally sit on a shelf reinforced with a pair of battens under, which are just screwed into the sides. I take it that you are talking about a tall unit with a door above and below, it would pay you to find out what other door sizes are available and move it up to suit that...

    Installing a built-in ceramic hob

Better to be too small than too big and I speak from experience. The silicon around the edges is a good idea, just try and be neat, it's a real job trying to get it off after. I always put a thick bead in the grove that's intended for the supplied strip.

    Installing a built-in ceramic hob

Diplomat is MFI's own brand. I have never seen a foil, there is usually a strip putty or some sort of self sticky strip to go around the edge. I would not worry about heat, they don't get very hot around the edge. I do loads of worktop changes and quite a few that I take out have no...

    parts for elu bandsaw.

I could be wrong here but I thought Elu and De-walt were the same and all Elu stuff was rebadged to De-walt, with no real difference to the machines. If this is the case you could try a Black & Decker main service depot, which is where I had to go to get a piece for a De-walt radial arm saw...
