    Size of bush problem!

Thanks people- iron was the answer. Popped in to my friendly merchant who said, "I told you the iron ones were longer when you phoned'!

    Size of bush problem!

It's isn't that the thread won't wind in, its that the rad thread is so far recessed that the 10mm on the bush physically can't wind in far enough as the hex hits the rim of the tail hole, ie. I need a few more mm- but who doesn't!

    Size of bush problem!

Not the sort that could be sorted with a razor but one of too little thread. Looking for a 3/4m to 1/2f bush to tail an old, old rad. Problem is the only ones I can find have only 10mm of thread, which due to the design of these rads, just isn't long enough to get a seal because you can only...

    Powermax needs descaling.

Customer had Heat Team service her Powermax (forgot to ask which model) and said it needs a powerflush descale. Powerflush :D Powermax :( . Have always avoided them and a forum search didn't fill me with confidence about them. Anyone got any experience of de-scaling one? Should I give it a...

    Placing a Room Stat

However bold you type you are still missing the point- but as long as you're happy, what the heck?

    Placing a Room Stat

Taking the stat into the rooms with you is fine if you haven't got TRV's- but you shouldn't have to if the system is designed properly- and if you have TRV's in there you're defeating the object and could easily have your boiler chugging away non stop. Not so effecient then eh?

    Biasi 24S diverter problem?

I try not to do breakdowns but I have to visit a Biasi with the following symptoms. Works fine on CH alone. No boiler response on HW alone but water heats if CH on already. No previous breakdown history- HW just stopped. Is that most likely the diaphragm? Would anyone be kind enough to talk...

    Honeywell gas valve.

Oh that's just a form of colour blindness- red white and blue just get mixed up! Can I do some wiring for you? Anyway, consensus of opinion points to changing the whole caboodle- thanks chaps.

Thanks Harrogate. I am an rgi but rarely get involved in breakdowns. Is it a simple job to change the solenoid?

And maybe you've been left with a leak somewhere?

    Swinging sixties!

Never seen this before- was it common practice way back then? Looked at a job today to change some very old rad valves on some very old radiators. The elderly chap was a 'Qualified heating engineer' but not a fitter, design and sales it seems, retiring at the end of the sixties. Anyway, it...

Thanks Nige. Is that ligit though?

    Edited cylinder question.

Never really taken much notice- just connect to them! I've always assumed that the threaded bit is made on to the end of the coil. Today I've had to think about it due to problems re-fitting a cylinder. One of the indirects won't take a (new) fitting properly, ie only a couple of mm will...

    Edited cylinder question.

I'm dealing with a cylinder where one of the indirect threads won't accept a union inside, warped or something. If it will go on, is it ok to fit an iron onto the thread and go from there?

    4 core isolation.

Sorry if I'm frustrating/confusing anyone. Should I have said 3 core and earth? Yes Lectrician, it has a live to power the display and brains and a switch live to call for heat. Is there a three pole equivalent to a normal fused switch or is the fan switch mentioned earlier the only answer?
