How do I remove a c/h radiator and fit stop ends?

Thanks for that. Perhaps I can get BGas to renew the water in the system and do the capping then. The Fernox or whatever they use has been in the system about six years. How often should it be renewed? I mentioned it at the last service and got a 'not necessary' answer.

How do I remove a c/h radiator and fit stop ends?

Thanks for that. That does seem to be the sensible way to do it. I am on a Combi boiler and a 10 mm system. I was hoping not to have to drain the system. If I shut down all radiators at both ends, so no pressure from them. Would it be possible to cut the pipe and quickly put the stop end on...

How do I remove a c/h radiator and fit stop ends?

I need to remove a radiator but leave pipework (10mm copper) sealed off under the floorboards. What is the best way to do this? I have ordered two brass 10mm compresssion cap ends.

    underground drain, broken pipe.

Thanks Felix. It developed; as these problems do. On further examination I discovered every connection but one had a cracked or broken female end, about seven in total, between the house and the manhole. I replaced the lot with plastic and used a rubber sleeve to connect to the pot at the...

    underground drain, broken pipe.

I had a blocked toilet which led to finding a broken section of pipe. This is a two foot, 5 inch (glazed?) pot pipe damaged by pressure from a concrete footpath laid inches above the pipe and an additional two feet of flag. The pressure from these two has forced the pipe down fracturing the...

    compression fittings leaking

The word shed now has a new meaning for me. Is this where 'ban all sheds comes from' ? A 'nip' means tighten it up ? Tried that. Binning means starting again. Will try the tape and the paste first.

    compression fittings leaking

Thanks for all that. I'm only a diy'er but have used yorkshire fittings and compression fittings successfully for a long time. The compression fittings without any tape or paste and I have only had problems since my last purchase. The pipe and the fittings came from a large diy outlet. The...

    compression fittings leaking

I have struggled twice recently with leaking compression fittings. Are these fittings now of poor quality? The merchants always say, use ptfe tape, which is not always that simple when you are up against a brick wall and behind a soil pipe. My last fix was to buy some Boss jointing paste. I...

    Flushing - how effective ?

No not twin entry. Your thoughts on removing and flushing sounds sense. Don't know if they would go for that. For £440 I would expect it to be fully cleaned out. I have a septic tank and do wonder what the chemicals will do to that. We have rain water soakaways so could use those I suppose

    Flushing - how effective ?

He may have thought he was saving us some money. With hindsight it was a wrong move. The question now is, are the flushes effective? They say they are and give a three year guarantee. Does the powerflush remove all the debris? I understand it will take all day to flush out the system.

    Flushing - how effective ?

I have inherited a system that i think has been flushed twice before. It was not thought necessary to flush again when a new condensing boiler was fitted. It is a microbore system with 9 radiators no problems since fitting new boiler. Decorating bathroom meant removing rad. it was full of...

    dvd/cd rom not copying pictures

having read all 7 pages. I decided to try once more before looking in the registry. There was a record tab in properties with something about copying to drive c (not d!) and it copied immediately. The computer had been switched off at the socket for a day. I can't believe that had anything...

    dvd/cd rom not copying pictures

Its not new but has hardly been used so I can't think its worn out. I think something has gone wrong with the settings. When i look at 'properties' its all about playing, nothing about copying. It will show previous pictures downloaded in the past. When i ask it to 'copy files to cd' it just...
