    SuperFoil on conservatory ceiling

Hi all - I'm thinking of insulating this conservatory ceiling with one of the layered foil-foam-foil type products like SuperFoil, and then over-boarding it from the inside with T&G or maybe just ply which I'd then paint. Anybody got any experience / tips or advice on this, please ? Might...

Insulating / boarding a conservatory roof

You either know what you're talking about, but you're too rude / arrogant to bother explaining it properly - or you don't know what you're talking about, and you just like trying to seem "clever". Either way - thanks for your contribution - I'll take it from here.

Insulating / boarding a conservatory roof

Thanks for your comments mate but - can you please share your definition of "void" ? As per my previous - it will be impossible to leave no empty space whatsoever, when packing out and boarding the ceiling - and an airborne water molecule will see a cubic inch as an enormous "void", wouldn't...

Insulating / boarding a conservatory roof

That's a good point I suppose - cheers. But surely moisture just exists in the air anyway ? If you're a water molecule, then a cubic centimeter (of "void") counts as quite a large place to condense, surely ?

Insulating / boarding a conservatory roof

Afternoon all - Apologies if this topic has been done to death already - I can't find it, if it has. My Conservatory is glazed in hollow-section Polycarbonate / PVC type stuff, as I'm sure many are. It's blooming freezing. I'm a competent joiner, and can't see any real issues with insulating...

    70s bungalow - removing / redesigning a roof truss

Thanks Leo. That sounds like an extract from some text somewhere - so, as far as we're concerned is this an "official" point of view ? Or just common sense ?

    70s bungalow - removing / redesigning a roof truss

Does "Yellow" not hinge the ridge too, in the absence of "Red" ?

    70s bungalow - removing / redesigning a roof truss

Well, I understand the laws of Physics, I don't plan to sell - and even if I do, my comment will be "It was like that when I bought it !!. Do you say "Not OK" from any professional basis - ie - are you (for example) a surveyor ?

    70s bungalow - removing / redesigning a roof truss

Ok thanks Bernard. But - how can "Yellow" EVER exert anything other than a horizontal force on the wall, in the absence of red ? It is pushing out sideways. Unless tied-in with some kind of horizontal bar to its counterpart on the other side - but even then surely the force would be a...

    70s bungalow - removing / redesigning a roof truss

Thank you Jon. That is not a bad idea !. I hadn't thought of that TBH. BUT - apart from the structural questions - I suppose my other main concern is - what might a Surveyor say, if they poke their head in there, a few years hence, if I'm selling ? Is it actually "OK" to mess with the...

    70s bungalow - removing / redesigning a roof truss

Many thanks Bernard. Yes, I agree. But surely - the lateral force against your "Blue", is being worked against by "Yellow", in my newly attached pic ? I don't propose to get rid of that rafter. That action would tend to produce a "lifting" force at the apex, which would be counteracted by...

    70s bungalow - removing / redesigning a roof truss

Hi all. I want to install a loft ladder to my 70's bungalow loft hatch. Assuming it pivots at the edge of the loft opening, the ladder has a 112 cm pivot radius (ie - the amount of space it needs, in the loft, to swing up and then down). As things stand, with the loft hatch where it is, the...

Removing Kitchen Door - Fire Regs ?

Hello all - I've searched the forum for this topic but the only thing I can find relates to a block of apartments... however apologies if it's a duplicate. I have a bungalow (floor plan below) with a single dormer bedroom accessed through the kitchen. All the main bedrooms are on the...
