Gah! Diet Coke in the laptop!

The disc drive is probably perfectly OK. Remove this and find out what interface it is and buy a suitable USB caddie that it will fit in. Connect this to another computer and copy off your data.

    Rawl plug screws too short

Buy longer screws  http://www.screwfix.com/search.do?fh_search=m6+screws Have a look at this link. I would suggest M6 x 40 or 50mm, head type depending on your preference, or if it is to a countersink hole.

The minefield that is choosing a double glazing supplier

I had 17 windows done for 8K by Fife Windows and Doors, don't know if they come to Glasgow or not. The windows were mainly about 3'6" x 2'9", fully reversible, with another three considerably larger up to 3'6" x 9'. The job was expertly completed with hardwood surrounds and internal cills in...

Combi boiler losing pressure - Worcester 24i Junior

I believe assumption #4 could be wrong. The CH leak could be low down but only leaking when the system is under pressure. Once the pressure has dropped the leak stops. I would go with the other assumptions and suggest that you have a leak in the CH that cannot be seen

No difference between Standard and HD picture

Isn't the TX-P46S20B, Panasonic not Toshiba. Many programs at the moment are derived from SD material, as already stated so little difference will be seen. If you have a BR player, can you see a difference between BR and standard DVD. If you have a sound system that will recognise Dolby...

    DOnt play with 3 phase

Remember back in the 1950's. I was living in a MoD apprentice hostel, electrical and mechanical apprentices about 100 of us. The warden used to put the main lights off at 10pm and we had to survive with bedside lights of the ring main. Being electrical/electronic apprentices we made up a...

    Intermittent left click

Might be worth contacting the laptop manufacturer. My wifes Toshiba laptop had a similar problem, but was a noticable sticking of the key. On phoning, Toshiba stated that it was a known problem and would be rectified free of charge irrespective of the laptop being within guarantee period...

    Presidence

A couple, well three, of questions on 'presidence already been set'. Can presidence be set by a change to a building where Planning Permission was not requested, but PP was required? If over 25% of the buildings in the area have the same change, without PP has presidence been set? Can...

Help! Am I obliged to have a BT junction box in my garden?

I would check your deeds. It is possible that you have a service strip running along the front of your garden. If this is the case then you could have gas, electric, and other services digging up your garden. Is it also possible, as you do not have a boundary wall that the deeds say it is...

    Double Glazing spacing.

Thanks for that quick reply, I was going round in circles trying to find a difference, and ending up in the same position. Buying replacement double glazing is worse than buying a new car. At least if you don't like the car it can be sold again! Now trying to decide between two quotes...

    Double Glazing spacing.

All other things being equal, is there any advantage over 4/20/4, over 4/16/4? This is assuming argon filled and one pane low e glass. Getting quotes at the moment uPVC windows, some offering 4/20/4 and others 4/16/4, both quoting 1.6 or under 'u' value.

Sonos - In Ceiling Speaker connections

Also note that your two strands of speaker cable have a marking on one of the strands insulation. This is so you can join +ve of your Sonos to the positive of your speaker so that both speakers are in phase. The marking could be a printed marking, or a ridge on the outside of one strand.

I've got a Sony Bravia and..................

Hi Paul Initially sky dishes were supplied with a single LNB (the bit that goes on the end of the arm in the middle :D ) for a standard sky box that had one tuner. If you have a sky+ box, or skyHD, they have two tuners and need an LNB with more outputs, hence quad (4 output) LNB. I am...
