    Flat to Pitch roof

Hi I'm thinking of pitching a rear flat roof extension. The existing is sound, can I fit the new rafters over the old roof on to new wall plates, or is it reccommended to remove the old board/ felt. Cheers, Ian.

    Ravenheat csi 85 combi dhw

I've located the Low water pressure sw, ( large black gizmo with 3 terminals ) is this the one you referred to, or were you talking about within the diverter?

    Ravenheat csi 85 combi dhw

Hi, parents rang me saying they have hot heating but only warm water when tap opened. I thought its probably dirty hex and went round, but found dhw will only fire up if heating is running. Also nothing if selector knob is on dhw only. Is this more likely to be a diverter problem? Thanks for...

    Return pipe cold, TVR Hot

If the living room rad heats up every time, all be it for a short time, the flow & return pipes must be clear. This may suggest a fault with the trv shutting down somehow. I would change it for a regular valve just to see what happens. If I'm off the mark I'm sure someone will put you right...

    240v Led query

Hi, Am I right in thinking that a 240v led gu 10 lamp has all its electrickery self contained, and there is no other input from the lamp fitting. Thus if a lamp is not working, and a known good replacement does not work either, the fault can only be with the supply wiring or switch. ( other...

    A simple job....not!

Its amazing where stopcocks turn up. After half a day fuming and swearing in an old terrace house I found it upstairs under the landing floor right in the middle.

Fitting 35mm door in 45mm frame (int)

You are correct cjard, having fitted the door it opens perfectly. The only drawback is the extra piece of hinge showing at the knuckle edge, to get the door up to the stops. The old hinges are 4" butts.

    Possible leak in heating system

Your water expands as it gets hot raising level. As it cools overnight it contracts.

    Possible leak in heating system

As you bleed rads, fresh water from tank takes its place. Condensation in cold loft caused by having hatch open, letting up warm moist air. Nothing to worry about unless you get further activity from ball cock.

Fitting 35mm door in 45mm frame (int)

My main worry is the door catching on the frame when opened past 90 deg, as its set in by almost 10mm. The alternative is having it set flush with the architrave edge of the frame, but that will leave the 10mm gap on the closing side. Wouldnt be so bad if it was wooden frame, I could plane off...

Fitting 35mm door in 45mm frame (int)

As per the title, I can foresee problems with the hinge side of the door catching the frame or backmould, due to the insertion depth being greater than the door thickness. Anyone have any tips on overcoming this. Cheers Ian. Edit; It is a metal frame, with welded on hinges.

Remove kitchen tap with rigid copper tail

Just one thing to remember, dont overtighten the flexi nut onto the valve, its only a rubber washer. Hand tight plus a smidge will do.
