Ideas for protecting drain pipe from parking mishaps?

That's an interesting idea. It could be customised to exactly the right size, too. Might look a but ugly/odd, though

Ideas for protecting drain pipe from parking mishaps?

It's a barrier that I want, rather than a deterrent/guide. Have been googling "pipe protectors" as recommended, but haven't found anything the right size yet - ideally I want something that doesn't protrude much more than 10cm from the wall

Ideas for protecting drain pipe from parking mishaps?

The problem is that every time it gets whacked it disconnects from the gutter at the top and causes a leak

Ideas for protecting drain pipe from parking mishaps?

Here are other views of the site. It can't be diverted round the corner as it would then drain onto a flat alleyway which is already prone to pooling of rainwater. I really want a robust shield which, if driven into, will do more damage to the bumper than the gutter!

Ideas for protecting drain pipe from parking mishaps?

No - we discussed this with the guy who installed it, and there was no good alternative location for it

Ideas for protecting drain pipe from parking mishaps?

We have gutter drainage pipe running down the front of our house, draining onto the driveway. From time to time it gets hit by cars parking on the drive - the drive is quite small, and if any wheels are left on the pavement the driver may be ticketed. When it gets hit it usually dislodges the...

Trying to unlock old steamer trunk

As luck would have it, I was looking for my Swiss Army knife in a drawer and happened to find a key which looked promising...the trunk is now open!

Trying to unlock old steamer trunk

We just retrieved an old steamer trunk from the attic which I bought in the USA in the early 1980s, and my wife pushed the lock closed without realising that I no longer had the key for it. Can anyone shed any light on what these locks look like on the inside, so that I can work out how to pick...

Anyone know where to find Terrain Corniche guttering?

Thanks for the info. I did email Polypipe last night but, as you say, I'm not holding my breath....

Anyone know where to find Terrain Corniche guttering?

Bit of a long shot, but are there any guttering specialists out there who know where I might source a now-discontinued product called Terrain Corniche gutter (2250 / 120 mm, EN 607 PVC-U – ref. 0539). We need to replace a section of gutter, as well as a jointing bracket. A Google search for this...

How to rejoin a severed 32mm PVC under-sink waste pipe?

Thanks for the feedback - will pop down to Toolstation. I'll leave the longer term solution to a suitably qualified person!

How to rejoin a severed 32mm PVC under-sink waste pipe?

Yes it's really strange - I have no idea what the intent was. Definitely not 40mm - the 32mm coupling was just a whisker away from fitting. I was wondering if something like this might do the job...

How to rejoin a severed 32mm PVC under-sink waste pipe?

Does anyone have any advice/suggestions for how to repair a botched plumbing job? We've discovered that one of the PVC waste pipes under the sink has been cut, and is being held together only by tape. It's a 32mm pipe, and I've tried using a 32mm compression coupling but the nut would not fit...

Hot water from taps but only luke warm from shower (combi boiler)

Our Worcester combi boiler (30CDi) has just been repaired to replace a faulty fan. It is now working again, but while we get hot water from the taps, there is no hot water from the shower - only luke warm. Turning on the shower does fire up the boiler, but the water never gets properly hot. Any...

Miele WT2670 washing machine lost power

Wriggling the cord when it was working again was the first thing that we tried - it was fine. The machine was in the middle of a wash cycle (not a spin cycle) when it died, so not vibrating as much as it can. I'd be surprised if the vibration dislodged the plug, particularly as it's been working...

Miele WT2670 washing machine lost power

So we managed to find an old wooden broomstick and it did the trick - the machine is finally freed. We plugged the machine into a different socket, using an extension lead, and it worked fine. So then we plugged it back into the original socket, and it still works fine. So we're no wiser re...

Miele WT2670 washing machine lost power

"One of you tilt the machine to the Left (the whole machine not just the front)" - that's the part that we are finding physically impossible - we are only able to lift the front of the machine. Current thinking is that maybe we can life the front and wedge a solid wooden broomstick under the...

Miele WT2670 washing machine lost power

As it happens I had some hardboard in the garage. The wife and I have just spent over an hour trying to tackle it. We decided to cut away the lino to the front edge of the machine to make things easier (!). We've now managed to get the left rear foot of the machine onto the hardboard, but just...

Miele WT2670 washing machine lost power

I was trying that technique to get the back feet over over the edge of the lino, but I just couldn't lift the back of the machine at all by grabbing the inside of the drum. I guess I'm not as young as I used to be!
