    Breathable interior paints

Hi all I have lime plastered walls in a cob cottage. Ive had the exterior painted last week. I very nearly got caught out becuase I believed Sandtext when they said their paint was breathable. This turns out to be a lie. Is Earthborn paint a good breathable paint to use on interior lime...

How to clean this ston wall fireplace?

Thanks. But I cant find a company near me (south west Devon) that offers this service. I can find companies that offer sand blasting, but not to what youve linked to. What - a "needle descaler"? Did it make much mess/dust? (i presume so!) Yes, there was some damp form the leaking chimeny...

How to clean this ston wall fireplace?

How to clean this ston wall fireplace?

The vertical cracking is wood. Ive got a mate thats done a little DIY plastering. Is fixing ss mesh and a bit of plaster over the top a '2 hour job' or a '1 day job'. Ive no idea. Obviously my mate would be the chap to ask, but Im curious how long you think it would take. Would gypsum one coat...

How to clean this ston wall fireplace?

Hmm. Interesting. I had not thought of that. I shall have a look. Just been watching vids on how blasting cleans brickwork. What do you think about the fillet of plaster along the top? My thinking is that it would hide the top of the white cable (the rest will hopefully be hidden behind a big...

How to extend my zinc roof?

Hi guys. This is a roof-related question although unrelated to my original post.... Is this zinc roof going to be strong enough to hold my weight? (12 stone/76 kgs) if I put a scaffolding plank on it to spread my weight? I dont want to dent it obviously. I have a big roll of Hessian fabric I...

    Installing water pump in well

OK. Ive been doing some research and I dont want to over-engineer a solution. All I need is to use the well water for watering the garden a few months in the year. An easier/cheaper solution would be something like...

    Installing water pump in well

Cheers guys. Obviously more to it than I thought. (which is usually the case!). As a cost indication: is this a few hundred quid job, or is it a couple of thousand job? (in which case I wont persue it).

    Installing water pump in well

Hi all I have a well in my garden. Its covered by a manhole cover. Id like to use it for watering the garden with. The well is about 15 feet deep and the water level about 4 feet. So I think what I need is an external tap; water pump; and a pipe connecting both. Has anyone any experience of...

    Concrete step needed for garden

Ive taken some more photos: Steps leadng to front of house. The middle brick step is one that needs replacing so I want it to look like the other concrete steps. Gravel will be laid on the steps/front paths. The steps lead to front of house with a path eitherside of front door. I need a...

    Breathable external paints

Ive done a bit of Googling, and it seems ideally I need silicate paint. This requires 2 coats rather than 5+ coats that is required from a lime wash. So less labour costs. However, silicate paints look to be very expensive! I think ideally the job needs one coat SecilTEK Silicate Primer AD25...

Raise gutter above ground level or leave it as it is?

Hi, See the plastic gutter pot(drain?) in this picture. (Ignore the pipe going off horizontally, I will remove that and the downpipe will go stright down to the plastic drain). I want the ground level (the bit that hastnt got gravel on) to be same level as the gravel. Im obviousy concerned...
