    Cylinder vent pipe.

Running the pipe through the roof is not really an option unless my mate wants to create a 22mm "pole" in the bedroom - I don't think I should go there within earshot of his other half

    Cylinder vent pipe.

Hi All, A mate of mine is thinking about adding a hot water cylinder with an electric element to supply the bathroom. He has a combi and the flow rate is very slow to the bath. Due to the fact the loft has been converted to a bedroom the space for a cold water tank is tight. I have found...

    Boiler Reset

Chris, spot on! One rad key, one hiss of air, one spurt of water, one warm and happy man. I'm now sat back in amazement and gratitude with a glass of wine, toasting it to you and diynot. Sorry about my first posts cos I now see I was totally on the wrong track, and many thanks for your...

    Boiler Reset

Chris - The system does also heat water. There is a diverter valve to switch the boiler from the rads to the cylinder, and the pump is just before that valve so it would be pumping for both. I think there is a high point, but I'm at work right now so can't check, I will take another look...

    Boiler Reset

Chris, thanks for the link to the manuals, thats great! You are right, I will stop jumping to assumptions. OK - to recap, facts only. I needed to replace a rad and it's valves due to rust, so I switched off the electrical supply to the system, drained the rads and carried out the swap...

    Boiler Reset

Sorry missed that bit. I (rightly or wrongly) made the assumtion it has an overheat stat but without the manual it is an assumtion. It is based on the fact that after the re-fill the system did fire-up for about 30-60 seconds before the main burners shut down. Again without the book of...

    Boiler Reset

The pilot is still on and when I switch the CH on the pump runs, and you can just hear the movement of water, but the main burner in the boiler just will not fire. It was OK before I drained the system to do the rad swap. I could try draining it again, but I can't see how the airlock would...

    Boiler Reset

Hi, I have a heating system using a Baxi 552 back boiler. Last weekend I shut the system down. Drained the Rads and replaced a rad plus it's valves (rusted). I flushed and refilled the system and bled the rads (lower floor first). So far so good - now the problem. I think the boiler...

    Another immersion question.

um..That's an idea, fitting the cold tank above it in the same cupboard. I will get my tape out. Thanks for for the input guys.

    Another immersion question.

Hi All, I currently have a combi providing hot water but, as it common, the flow rate to the bath is poor (well if you want hot water). So I'm thinking of leaving the kitchen and utility room on the combi but adding a hot water tank in the airing cupboard powered by an electric element to...

    Removing Expansion Vessel.

I have now found a page on the Internet that has made the whole thing clear. The vessel uses a rubber balloon like "bag" attached to the water connection flange. Therefore when there is no water in the bag (as would be the case once I have drained it) the 3.5 bar is applying equal...

    Removing Expansion Vessel.

Thanks for the help. Do you have links to how these vessel work. I'm still at a loss to understand what is preventing that 3.5 bar of air causing a "kick back" on the wet side ?? As for the feed to the new loo. The feed to the tank goes via the bathroom (and feeds a second loft tank) I was...

    Removing Expansion Vessel.

Hi All, I have a toilet I am going to replace that is fed water from a tank in the loft (via a pump). The toilet has a wash feature and was fitted for the previous (disabled) owner. It has been nothing but trouble so its time for it to go, so to the issue... There is a dedicated 50 Gal...
