    Induction hob trips RCD

UPDATE: After a lot of hassle getting the replacement hob (don't talk to me about Hotpoint "customer service") it eventually arrived and was fitted by them. Same result, instantly trips RCD.... Tried it with all power breakers except the cooker circuit off and it works fine. Turned breakers...

    Induction hob trips RCD

UPDATE: Engineer couldn't find a fault with hob initially. Spoke to his office who had him separate the two lives and two neutrals (option for three phase installation I think). Testing then showed some fault. Replacement coming.

    Induction hob trips RCD

Thanks. I'll try the other circuits off and see - good thinking. Hob is Beko, callout is Electrolux (presumably own Beko), and yes, £55 if no fault with the hob. Fair enough.

    Induction hob trips RCD

OP here. I posted the question to see if my conclusion the hob is faulty is likely correct. I'd guess 70% of the replies confirmed that so I booked the service call. Advice on other issues is if course welcome.

That's my take on it too. I will be quizzing him.

    Induction hob trips RCD

Thanks@ericmark. That is what I am hoping is not the case as it will take a lot more diagnostics to pin down. Fingers-crossed it's a faulty hob!

    Induction hob trips RCD

Yeah right! The wording used on the chat when I booked the service call was "he will apply the fix." Suggesting perhaps it is aknown issue. Although it was an Indian call centre so could just have been odd use of language.

    Induction hob trips RCD

Because it has no metal parts accessible. I wouldn't think of it if it was an oven or similar.

    Induction hob trips RCD

Engineer attending Tuesday to "repair" hob.

    Induction hob trips RCD

Even when it is not turned on though?

    Induction hob trips RCD

    Thanks. I'll get it changed.

    Induction hob trips RCD

Thanks all. It is a brand new hob so obviously I will get it replaced if it is faulty, which seems likely but I just wanted a sanity check if I was missing something. I haven't cleaned it but I did have a pan boil over slightly. But if it can't take water on the glass surface then what use is...

    Induction hob trips RCD

Beko HII64201MT induction hob fitted to replace previous induction hob. No change in wiring. Old hob worked fine. Hob is connected into DP isolator switch. When I turn the switch on the 80A 30 mA RCD trips. If I disconnect the hob wiring from the DP switch there is no problem. This suggests...

Sealed system, replace pressure gauge without draining down?

Thanks guys. It is a WB Greenstar 24i and it does have a drain cock at the bottom of it (the only one I can find on the system so have used that to drain down before). I'll have a go at draining a bit out and see how much pressure there is when I unscrew the gauge.

Sealed system, replace pressure gauge without draining down?

Probably the stupidest question in a while so feel free to say so! A freak accident in the garage (falling timber) knocked the front off the boiler pressure gauge (needle and plastic front and the spindle the needle fits to). I have a replacement gauge and it is obviously a very simple job to...

    American style fridge leans back

Giant Hisense fridge freezer that has two rollers on the back (non adjustable), two rollers in the middle (non adjustable) and two adjustable feet at the front. When supplied the feet are wound all the way up which makes it a doddle to roll into place. The thing is that the deliberate design...

Check valves, mixer tap, different pressures

Thanks guys. I wish I had done this research before buying the tap! However, it seems to be working fine (the missus is happy...) so I'll slap the check valve on the cold and leave it.

Check valves, mixer tap, different pressures

The whole house is pumped (HW and CW) so pressures are equal at the bathrooms mixer taps, and showers. I guess it was done due to the low mains pressure and the hot water cylinder being on the ground floor (it was a a bungalow that has been extended into the loft). The only mains fed (therefore...

Check valves, mixer tap, different pressures

Thanks. Doesn't look like the one we got keeps the supplies separate. Looking up the spout there is only one hole that the water comes out of. The spec doesn't say: https://www.tapsuk.com/astini-colonial-brushed-steel-white-ceramic-handle-kitchen-sink-mixer-tap-p7842
